Campaign (for me) seems to have ground to a halt with no way forward.

Its a little difficult to relay this problem but Im completely baffled in the campaign and cant work out whether its just me being totally befuddled with this rather obtuse campaign/tutorial or whether a raft of mini bugs and freezes has conspired to break my compaign and bring it to a standstill..

I am playing the tutorial/campaign and my Sov and his team have moved north to the wasteland area i reached a point where the game refered to footprints (they are marked on the map) and for a turn or so i went round in circles with constant pop-ups hinting I should head in another direction, no idea which one.

After a turn or so I scrambled west, the pop-up messages gave up bugging me and I killed a few baddies for a while, discovered a barrier and locked obsidian gateway (which apparently means i have to wait till some allies land 'from the sea'?) but that's basically it. I can't go back South East beyond the footprints, to explore with my Sovereign elsewhere and nothing seems to be happening in the area im 'stuck' in. The game simply wont allow me to return to the lower half of the map.

I can build units down on the southern cities of my map and they can roam around in the south but they cant link up with my sovereign as they too can't get beyond the 'footprints' area of the map to joun him in the north west. He is no down by attrition to just 3 in the army, no food, no reinforcements etc. So for me the campaign seems to have ground to a halt.

Send your additional troops by way of sea. Sending troops to some of the cities should cause them to grant you ships.

even sending a caravan to the city will trigger the gifting of ship & troops.

I appreciate the assistance but either im being extremely dumb (which is possible) or you dont realise how stuck i am. Firstly I am playing the campaign and dont have access to boats or caravans, I guess this is a tech i dont yet possess?

The narrative does suggest I need to await a sea landing but I have played forward many turns send troops to neighbours and explored techs (many of which are inactive at this stage in teh campaign and I dont have options for either - basically unless someone can provide me with a lightbulb moment Ihave managed to break teh campaign. I hope not.

Thans again for your patience and help.

what you could do is in the nearest town train ONE peasant then send it to the the other faction, the caravans tip was from before 1.10, also you can design your own 'pioneer' unit with a 'pioneer pack' so that you can build towns  where you want, not just where you are given a pioneer.(this is another way to pass the barrier as influence will pass the barrier, it is just that teleport is not available so can not teleport past the barrier

the boats are gifts from the LAST (tarth & carrodus?) two factions before you got to the footprints,

when you recieve the first shipload the troops you are given onto it then sail it to the beach near tarth, unload one or more troop(s) onto the beach and walk to tarth, you will be given another ship and three more troops load them onto the ships

(additional option, but btw if you want to you can also add a 'hero' to one of the ships and sail it to the southeast (bottom right) island and explore it(you should find a scroll that adds a new spell for reliasbut if you do not have a 'hero' then you will not get the spell),

then sail the ships around the bottom of the map and up the left side of the map to the beach next to the fireshard near the blackwall, and it is a very good idea to have several(at least 3)squads(third from left group size and eight indivduals in the squad) with the best weapons/armour that you can make do the final attack on the empire dragon group that will END the campaign.

you might be able to win the campaign with a smaller force, but might lose, I have used 6 squads of hammer armours and not lost a squad an suspect that three is near the minimum.

theserg, from what I remember the campaign in 1.1 disables the teleport so that is no longer an option, unfortunatly
