IMPULSE ERRORS WHILE UPDATING GAME

Hi all,

I just bought elemental war of magic. Impulse prompts me that there is an update. So i start the update and at 47% it quits with an error. Download verification error. When i view error log, it shows it havinga n error with trimming a file. Impulse also reports that my game version is v.0.0.0 when i know its v1.0. I am trying to goto v1.1

Is this a known issue or am i missing something? 2 days, $64 for a game and cant even update it to play.

Any replies and help appreciated!

Thx

Scott

I havent played Elemental but I know they have patched it since the initial release.  Since it was a Stardock project they really took their time to make sure the patch worked well.  Try deleting the game and downloading it again, I would also send a ticket to Support.

Hmm,

I installed this game from disc and not directly from Impulse itself. The game installed as version 1.0 but impulse reports it as v0.0.0

Is the fix to this as ridiculous as uninstalling the cd install and downloading the full game from impulse? Seems ridiculous to run things this way but i guess in the end your just paying for a valid Serial #. Why include a disc?

Nevermind last response, i installed and Impulse won't use your serial for a full download only updates. So im reinstalling now and we'll see what happens.

Yeah,

Thats the first thing i id was register the game to no avail. I reinstalled and still no joy on update v1.10. Still get to 47% downloaded and error. Ive resorted to the stand alone install of Elemental found here www.anywhere.impulsedriven.com. Seems crazy to have to download all the files when i have the game but in order for me to play it with the updates i guess ill have to.

Cheers to a flawed setup.

Had the same issues as Wordeee, but having uninstalled and trying to reinstall from disc it just keeps asking me if I want to uninstall - no option to try to reinstall the game!

I have even removed Impluse via Add or Remove applications from the Control Panel, downloaded Impulse from their web site and tried to reinstall the game. If it helps, I'm getting a dialog box saying can't find network location NO$KEY.

When installing Impulse from what I downloaded, it's picking up some of the directories I customized (off the disc it's just installing Impulse where it wants, not where I want it to), so I'm assuming the uninstall program isn't cleaning itself up completely.

Really a bad user experince so far. Very disappointed! Any ideas before I ask the person who bought it for me for Christmas to return it?

Update:

The uninstall wasn't clean, so on my XP SP3 system, I opened up the registry and deleted the following entry:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\7A6E627C31C68BF449D3C8FD7E41D064

that allowed me to reinstall the from the CD.  complete the install and did not start the game up at completion.

The version of Impule I downloaded from the web, and installed previously, recognised the install game and propmted me to get the v1.1 update.

Unfortunatley I'm still getting the 'Error: Download verification check failed' message. So I've spent a couple of hours getting back to where I was before I tried to update to v1.1, with the exceptioon I have Impluse installed where I want it, not what it thinks I want.

Hi guys, I am encountering the same problem. I am pretty confident that the issue is not on your end (the user's) but on Impulse's end. The error message is that the verification check failed. this is not about you account info, but about the data in the patch file. It's telling you that some of the patch data is corrupted and can't be used. It looks like this just happened in the last couple of days. If you are experiencing the issue, I suggest that you hold tight, I'm sure they will fix it in a couple of days. Do keep in mind it's new years, and most people are still on holidays.

I'm having the same issue.  Haven't done anything as drastic as uninstall or anything like that.  Just got it tonight.  2 hours of wasted time trying to update.

47.1% for me as well.  it can't be on our end if its multiple end users with 47%.  I did a custom install as well, perhaps that is the problem, but since you reinstalled and it didn't fix it for you, then I'm assuming it won't for me.

I'll give it a few days.  I don't even want to bother starting it with what I have read about the initial release, but do look forward to playing.  Please fix this issue Stardock.

Things I have done:

1) Tried flipping the show pre-release on/off.

2)  Reboot machine

3)  Restarted 2-3 times in each of above changes.

always stuck at 47%

I'm trying one last thing that I had noticed as an idea.  and taking off to watch TV.  Try exiting impulse completely, and then execute "run as administrator" on the impulse program and select "no".  I hit yes the first time it asked which changes it to non administrator.  Maybe this will help.  I can't be bothered waiting again for 10 minutes so this is it and I"m out.

PLEASE FIX YOUR SOFTWARE.

update: Run as administrator made no difference.  However, constantly resuming I'm up to 55%.  This is performing a resume every 2 seconds to get 0.2 % progress "maybe".  I don't want to sit here all night clicking resume.  Again please fix this.  You have my account info, email me questions if you have to.

QA - Please test an out of the box "update" on VISTA 64 bit system.  Thanks.

Yup,  having the same issue.  47% and Error,  Tried doing a reinstall of the game and nothing.  Really hope they come up witha  solution soon.  This is getting... tiresome

Please contact [email protected] about this directly if you're still having the issue. I believe the game was completely re-staged after the office reopened this week, so it should not be happening any longer.

Working for me now too, maybe that's the difference between v1.10 and v1.11 :)

I never did get a response to the support ticket I opened a week ago, just an email about 'weekend impulse buys'  hmmm...

Off to chekout my Christmas gift
