after 1.1 its all down hill

need help

from Elemental Forums

hello all im having alot of problems with elemental. it locks up on loading games, after two battles or around there the next battles are just a whit screen with the interface there but no battle ground with a green bar no the right hand side of the screen and one more but i cant be bothered here is my info please let my know whats going on??

After thinking for a minute about it, it's really not funny that you're having problems with the game. If I had any helpful advice for you thezerg, I'd give it to you.

My guess is that your integrated chipset might not be able to handle the game. I know, Elemental doesn't seem like it would be GPU intensive, but it is, for some reason. My only suggestions are...

1) Update your GPU drivers
2) Try the game on cloth map only mode
3) Also, if there is an OOM issue, that could possibly be bleeding over into your tactical battles, but this is just me speculating.

from reading your dxdiag report, I think your problems are

1 integrated video(no 3d capability AND slows ram access)was intended for word processing and spreadsheets, NOT games

2 minimum ram for gaming especially tbs & rts both types want at least 2gb FOR THE GAME plus 512mb+ for the windows

fixes

1 obtain a 3d video card of atleast geforce 8600 or ati 5750

2 add at least 1gb ram, preferably 2gb even though the windows does not support 4gb ram availability without moving to 64bit

the 1.1 patch has the multithreaded AI in it,

the 1.09 and earlier had a singlethreaded ai,

so it would be reasonable to assume that the multithreaded ai needs faster access to the ram as the game engine, the ai threads, the windows, AND the integrated video are all demanding access in a timely manner to the ram, and the integrated video is TAKING half the possible access time,

so a pciexpress video card even down around the geforce 7600 area would double the responsiveness and apparent speed of the computer , but thsis is only recommendations, and unless you are in a fairly small part of australia(within 100 miles of me), that is as much as I can offer, but you could visit a computer fair and spend about $50-80 dollars on a video card(unless the computer is in a microcase or slimline case that can not take a full height expansion card, in which case I would look at if it would be possible to fit a larger case where you use the computer, and if possible, then get a case (from about $40) and a video card, and upgrade the computer
