I think when before you but a car you always take it for a test drive, before you buy a house you check out the neighborhood and if you go to a restaurant for a diner and in the end something is wrong with it in most restaurants they at least give you 50% discount for the dish or take the dish completely off the bill.    

Especially in restaurant consumer happiness is priority before anything else and word of mouth good or bad is priceless or potentially destroying for your business. I know that because i own one. 

And yes you can read reviews of games movies etc but you need to know that most publications get paid to make a review in first place and as publication businessmen you don't want to alienate your future clients by negative reviews. So they do it either by pointing at only positive and omitting negative or downright lying. I take them as a commercial and let me ask you do you believe commercials.

Major example for above for me would be SC2. Everywhere you went there were positive things written about it and yes i did try it at my friends. He made a mistake of buying it. We played it for total 2h or so. Was it worth the money he spend..... 30+£ for 2 hour entertainment. Well it all depends how much of it do u have, what your attitude toward money is and what your priorities are. 

The only review I trust is "review" of a person i know and by spending time together with this friend in most cases you end up trying before buying. 

Right, and see I agree with you and that's the part of where the minsunderstanding was. I was not saying that inflation was causing tech prices to go down. I was just comparing tech prices between then and now and saying they are lower then they used to be. But if your comparing prices over such a long period you have to make some adjustment for inflation in order for the numbers to be meaningful.

There was a time when it was the other way around due to the fact that for example your bank or mortgage debt could be rendered meaningless by a bout of hyperinflation. But now these things tend to be tied to inflation values. So I guess my information there was outdated.

Because that would be like taking the original copy of the Mona Lisa and defacing it. I'm pretty sure that would earn you a hefty charge and a great deal of hate by people all over the world. Then again, none of that would matter, as your Zerg army would be taking over the world, and you can make or break all the laws you want.

Im mad at DRM or whatever i so wanted to play SPORE and all its little expansion packs, only i wont because of the lame protection on it. The only way i know of to play it without the worrying about whether it will install again is through a pirated copy, im not sure where the law stands but id be happy to but it and THEN get a pirated copy so i didnt have to worry, put me right if im wrong but im sure your allowed a backup of your software if its for your own use? On the same note, certain games are only released in certain countries, case in point GOTHIC II the euro version is shit, the best version is the US one that has all the speech and better patches, so if you enjoy your games what are you to do?

This is not a piracy issue but a legal one.  A company was sued because it was used as a medium for the act, they did not commit the act itself.  If this P2P service could be successfully sued then everyone could be successfully sued for any crime.

Well technically both of you are correct.  The rich have the most of what is devalued and would be most affected by what is now a ton more worthless then before.

The poor would be more affected lifestyle wise as their lifestyles are based on paycheck to paycheck, and less will come in.

Because I am on the deans list at school.  I excel at english, mathematics (esp. physics), among other things.  I am an IT who yes, is an expert of Windows, obviously, but also has an expertise at such things as Red Hat Linux, slackware, gentoo, and fedora among others.  I also can do minimal c++ programming (Although I mostly can do html), and I have a genius level IQ.

Does any of this matter?  Not really, UNLESS YOU GO ON A FORUM TO EXPRESS YOUR OPINION.  I have gone on forums with liberals, and said I am from the south and conservative.  Once those two are mentioned, all hell breaks loose, and liberals no longer care for your IQ capabilities, or anything you know.

I have a low threshold for stupidity and the sort of incessant blather some people use just to be the center of attention, I admit it. And you're wrong about fadedc admitting he was wrong. He only admitted he was part wrong and just claimed his absurd notion "used to be so":

The notion that the poor suffered less from inflation than the rich has always been false. It's not outdated. It's false. What fadedc was doing there was attempting to save face after posting an obvious howler. A howler which his stubborn pride wouldn't allow him to fully admit was false.

Anyway, this is all getting way off topic (which is Sweden prosecuting Pirate Bay for being a go-between). The real issue is not really piracy, but prosecuting those who provide a service that could be used for piracy. That opens up a very large Pandora's Box.

Interesting post. I've noticed how the trend in music is going independent. It still comes with costs, the big boys don't give the independents radio and TV time and shut their work out of the chain stores. But the internet is replacing both broadcast media and stores as a source people use for their music interests. Many artists now offer lower quality mp3 versions of their work for free on their websites and then sell their cds, or downloads, direct, and bypass the music mafia altogether. Making your own music cd is fairly inexpensive. The cost is low enough that many garage bands get them made and sell them at their performances. With internet downloading, the cost to the artist is much lower still. Likewise, making one's own studio is not a multimillion dollar undertaking any more and many artists build them at home, and rent the use out to other artists also. By cutting out the music mafia industry and selling direct, independents can sell their work for much lower prices. A combination of these mp3 give aways and low prices on the cds and HQ downloads can remove a lot of the reason for pirating the work since a lot of pirating is probably due to not being able to afford the high costs of cds. Having these works ready at the click of a few keys also takes a bite out of piracy, since it is handy and much easier than trying to search out the material on the web. It's also safer since you don't need to worry about getting a computer virus.

There is a world of difference between actual piracy and information piracy. When one steals and item and sells them for a profit, that person is attempting to benefit off the labor of others. When one steals information and gives it away from free, that person is not trying to benefit off the labor of other. Long John Silvers fast food fish has about as much to do with actual piracy as The Pirate Bay. To take a note from the English cultural legacy, Robin Hood was as much more of a pirate as the guys running the pirate bay under your definition, and yet this was a folk hero, delivering the wealth of the nation back to the hands of the masses. However, these individuals are not modern day Robin Hoods, but merely a group of individuals who do in fact believe in the freedom of information. It is this belief that pushed them to mock a legal processes based in other countries.
