Numerous freezing and crashing issues

I have been experiencing numerous freezing and crashing issues with Elemental v1.1

It usually occurs when moving units around on the map.  For the first few days I was getting alot of crashes.  Now the game freezes quite often (10 times in the last hour) and I have to three finger salute and try ending the program from task manager.

I am running win7 64 bit pro.  core i7-930.  xfx radeon 5850.  6 gig of ram.  xfx mobo.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am enjoying the game but the crashes and freezes are starting to wear on my patience with my limited free time.

That's the same setup I'm using here.

Since you're having this issue and I have the same setup, try out my EXE replacement I made:

Also, on behalf of a fellow Radeon 5850 owner, good choice! :)

frog, the system is similar to my b3(i7 930 oc 4ghz,gigabyte ga x58a ud3r, 12gb ddr3 2ghz @1.83ghz, shaphire ati 5850) box except for the brands of mobo & video, and also the amount of ram, the only reason I do not play more is the customer requests for me to attend the customer's premises to fix problems in their computers.

and I agree it is a very nice system

Thanks for the reply Brad.  I hadn't checked on here as some of the problems went away when I disabled AMD powerboost for the video card.  However, I do still get the game crashing unexpectedly at least once every hour or so.  It seems that the only repeatable behavior is when i get impatient and try moving the map too soon after the turn is over/starting again. Otherwise, I haven't been able to tie the crashes to any certain behavior.

The crashes are annoying, but the lower frequency has made the game playable.

I will try your exe assuming I can figure out how to do that :)  I assume I just unzip the file and replace the exe with the one in the game folder?

Yeah, that's all it takes, although you might want to backup the original exe. Impulse will put the original one back if you ask it to, but it's just good practice to backup core files before you modify them manually. Even if it's a developer hotfix.
