love game ...but....Performance vs other AAA titles...

I Just want to say- I love this game's potential and I know it will be polished eventually.

BUT the rendering performance HAS to be improved. I can play any other recent strategy game, shooter, whatever, with maxed out settings, crazy amounts of AA, and have great framerates. This game slows to a crawl as soon as I have uncovered about 20% of a tiny sized map.

It doesn't matter if I turn EVERYTHING off in the video options and play at 1024x768, it is exactly the same performance wise.

My gut feeling is that there is something not being handled correctly by the new engine, maybe something that wasn't an issue in GalCiv2...like occlusion problems with the terrain, or how it handles the animated foliage, shadows, or fog of war...but something isn't right.

Yes, yes, greatly exceed recommended specs, latest drivers, disabled antivirus all that too.

Yes (I agree).

Can you guys post your system specs please? Just to get an idea of what's running and what's not.

One of my machines is a T8400 with 9400M and my performance is great (only thing I have off is AA).

You get more slowdown than Civ 5 on max settings??

Try turning off the outlining. There are some machines that really choke on that.

My machine struggles with this game. Badly. System Specs:

CPU:
AMD Athlon II X4 635 Quad Core Processor

Graphics:
ATI Sapphire Radeon 5830 1gb

RAM:
3gb

Sound
Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio

OS:
Windows 7 64-bit

HDD:
1x 1tb
1x 500gb

All settings in low with every effect disabled. Still 15FPS WTF

Been doing some experiments- large cities in the distance might be the problem-

Maybe an option to keep people who are having performance issues from having to use the cloth map, would be to add a very simplified version of each city tile, maybe even a generic city tile that you can't distinguish from the others without looking at your improvements list.

anyways, more access to different graphics options might help more users find that sweet performance spot.

AMD Turion Dual Core 2.1 GHz
ATI Radeon Mobility HD 3200- 512 dedicated, 2 GB shared
4 GB RAM
Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit

Now, that's not really a workhorse laptop, but seriously, I can run games that are much much more graphically intensive than Elemental with no problems at all. I understand that it's a new engine and all, so hopefully performance will increase in the future...

But, my performance has actually decreased from 1.09 to 1.1. Grr. Stutter from the very beginning, before the first city is founded.

Outlines are off. Minimum graphics settings. None of these changes have made much difference. Graphics drivers are current.

Edit: It turns out that the performance drop may have been related to Adaptive AA being turned on when I updated the drivers. Just FEI, turning this off may buy you 3-5 FPS. It's playable now, at least.

TurnFreeze, CrashtoDesktop, OutofMemory, Crash&Reboot, NoPerformance

Come on - fix this!

playing on cloth map, just auto resolve battle can't be the way elemental should be played...

And even with all turned (NULL) it still crashes.

There is still a huge memory leak, the performance is really bad and still tons of bugs and flaws exist.

1.1 was progress but  just a slow start in the right direction.

Elemental is still miles away from being playable.

Having the same slowdown problem.... and that's just when I start the game.  Also I have mass graphical bugs in my version.  Arrgh.
