hard to move my troops

I am currently in a swamp and am finding it impossible to move in it. I am using the arrow keys to move my troops and at the turns in this swamp I cannot get my troops to manuver threw. This is so frustrating that I want to quit. I have tried everything even the option to explore hit the X key and the button to do so and have only gotten that to work once. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure I follow the problem completely, but the return spell will bring your army back to the capitol.  Several spells in the terraforming line can help change the landscape.
