Int 12 casting Fireballs??

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding the game mechanics, but I thought a 22 INT level Fireball meant the caster needed at least a 22 INT...  My Sov, build for the blade rather than the spell, could thankfully still cast 22 INT Fireballs despite his meager 12 INT....

I'm thinking bug?

Sov's ignore the INT requirement.

What impinc said. If you don't like this mechanic, just change the 1 to a 0 in the following line of the ElementalDefs.xml:

<IsSovereignExemptFromSpellStatReqs>1</IsSovereignExemptFromSpellStatReqs>

Sovs need a "INT dosen't matter for me" tattoed on their foreheads in neon pink. I think this may be the single most popular question in the game.

Or a manual.

Does that make INT a useless stat for Sov's?

Or game mechanics that make sense.

Still increases damage that use it in their calculations.

In my last game my Sovereign couldn't cast pillar of flame until he had an INT of 27!

But basically 'yes'. The spell of making costs 100 Int and you can cast it with your warrior brute specc'd Sov that also single handily pwnt 3 AIs before season 20. Most spells not being affected by Int outside of requirements which don't matter anyways means you can also toss volcanoes around and destroy an AI's cities without them so much as declaring war on you too. I mean in theory...I myself would never make use of one of the many abuses found in Elemental of course O:)

Int is a very useful stat for Champions if you want someone that can cause a lot of damage with Arcane arrow. I usually make a wizard champion for kicks while playing. Though I still give him platemail a sword of wrath in case he is attacked by spiders of course >_>

That reminds me of a related but different issue -- there's no str requirement to wield the larger/heavier weapons.  As there is (or should be) and int requirement for more powerful spells, there could (or should) be a str requirement for heavier weapons.  It seems wrong that a str 5 Sov could wield a heavy battle axe as skillfully and do as much damage as a str 40 or so Sov.

And perhaps a dex requirement for speedier weapons (that get more attacks but less damage per attack).

I wonder if STR and DEX requirements for weapons can be modded in?

Oh I agree with you completely here, something like high str requirements for Lord Hammers and broadsword type weapons and heavy plate mail would be nice. Dex requirements for advanced stabby things and ninja like items like cloak of evasion. Str/dex for bows and such of course. And theoretically Int requirement for clothie type wizard clothing. Heck maybe even go wild and for super champion/Sov gear have magical equipment require some combination of Int and str/dex. This would actually add variety and thought to a system that utterly lacks any strategy atm.

Its just one of many areas that I want needs to be fleshed out more. I just hope this sort of thing is patched in soon and not left to modders or expansions to make up for. They should add additional content, not make up for general lack of content :P

sov's int still has an impact on the stats of children.
