Yeah, they've said tactical battles are being revamped. Amongst other things, the long-awaited "simultaneous turns" in tactical combat (where units each calculate for their own turn in one single line, and you don't get to move all your units at the same time).
There have also been some hints to quests being changed somehow, supposedly breaking up the content into "parts" that can be auto-generated to be unique quests. (if they don't do it, I will)
I wouldn't be surprised if we would see something in regards to how the lore is implemented in the game (right now, it isn't).
Someone also said they'd work on giving each faction their individual tech tree and do some heavy work on making them feel more distinguished. However, I can't remember if this was for the first or second expansion. Most likely second, if they are going to revamp the tech trees completely, they'll probably mix it up with that whole "reducing the amount of trees" thing.
I'd say it's guaranteed we'll see more spells as well.
And then there's the talk about this new mod API guy joining them in January, that's bound to bring at least a few significant changes to modding.
