EDIT: Elemental now loading, just a bit slower than I was expecting.

I get the initial Elemental start up screen, then no further (program is always Not Responding).  Does 1.10 possibly still require internet access perhaps?  Or any other ideas?  I'm currently getting a modem fixed/replaced, so I don't have direct access to the internet from that computer.

Look forward to your ideas and help to get 1.10 working! =)

Thanks a lot guys,
Steven.

it does attempt to connect to a network, bu should time out after approx 3 minutes, had the same problem with a software firewall and the game in full screen.

it is because of the integrated internet chat/gaming/downloading

Internet connection should be only required by the betas and  never for the normal patches. I haven't tried 1.1 without internet connection so I cannot say if it requires or not, and I haven't experienced hangs in the start up screen. So I cannot help you there.

If somehow 1.1 is requiring internet by any chance, I'd vote for a mistake when removing it from 1.1 for public release (the mistake being actually not removing it) rather than a new approach to DRM by Stardock. That said, I'm speculating while waiting for an e-mai. XD

Well, I'm pretty sure that it worked prior to removing the modem.  I'll just check by turning off mods in the Elemental directory's settings text file.  I don't think I had exactly the same mods I had installed when it worked last.  Anyway, I'm not implying that Stardock is doing secretive DRM or anything malicious - I just want to play Elemental (with mods if possible =)) while I don't have a modem connected. =)

Best regards,
Steven.

I know you are not, I was just mentioning possibilities. :)

Well, it seems that you just have to wait a bit. =)

On a slightly different note, I have noticed that autosaves still can seem quite unstable, especially when there is an OOM crash.

Best regards,
Steven.

This is an issue I have seen as well.  On startup, the games checks if you have an active network (not internet) connection (for most people, this simply means the computer is connected to a router).  If there is such a connection, the game tries to talk to impuse/stardock/whoever, but times out after 100 seconds (from what I have timed).  If you have a firewall blocking the game, or in your case, no modem, you have to wait for the timeout. If there is no network connection, the game gets to the main menu in about 10 seconds.

So is there a way to change ini settings to stop this crap?  Like disabling intro movies ?

Unnecessary wait sucks, dood!
