Faction Descriptions

Faction descriptions in manual differ to those ingame

eg

Manual states

Capitar - Educated / Snobbish

Game States

Capitar - Educated, Industrious, Entrepreneurs / None

Just curious which is correct game or manual.

Depends on if you play manual or game probably ;)

Always trust the game over the manual. I've been playing since Beta 3 before the game has released and quite a bit has changed. (You used to have to be touching the resource node with your city....SPAGHETTI).

The game is undergoing extensive rework since the print manual got locked down. I've seen some dev posts that suggest the PDF version will be at least semi-synced with changes since RTM. Hopefully the PDF versions of the manual will more or less keep up with changes to the game.

Just for information tho i was reading the info from the PDF manual which states that its for version 1.1  which was why I was curious was wondering if the game had an old description left in it that had not been updated propperly yet.  Have read other posts in this forum that mention out of date tool tips etc within the game currently.

I consider this a bug. By the way I think the Hiergamenon should also state which version of the game it actually reflects. At least if the statement was correct.

End of Tickker's quote

Well, that's not very surprising to hear. Documentation, in-game or outside, has never been a strong point with Stardock games.

In their defense, there's an industry-wide trend to spend less time and money on software documentation. Part of it is surely the continuous-development thing (which really does make solid sense for software production), but I've no doubt that another part reflects a growing share of the population with a strong distaste for sentences, paragraphs, outlines, etc.

Re the faction descriptions problems, I blame that on the very low value Brad appeared to place on "content." If the damned fundamental rules are a moving target long past the first commercial release, it's an awfully tall order to expect the in-game help and ScreenTips to be clear and correct.
