new player here

Hi All,

I bought EWOM on Aug 24 when it originally released.  After opening it, I read some forums stating how unfinished it was out-of-the-box.    I even bought Civ V to satisfy the TBS urges while I waited for 1.1.  I've been reading the forums every week watching it's progress.  So I never installed it...till now on the 1.1 patch.  I haven't started playing yet, but I want to see how this game is turning out.  Wish me luck and I'm hoping I like it!

Come back and post your thoughts.  It'd be interesting to hear your impressions since you never saw it pre-1.1.

Ok.  i'll post to stardock if i get a CTD.  I just played a 100 turns and it looks like one BAD-ASS turn-based strategy!!!   I like it already.  I just don't know what the hell I'm doing.  a bandit came by and razed by kingdom so i guess i should start reading all the rules again(i read them back in august).  I'm reading the in-game help in the upper right corner,.  Can somebody comment on how applicable the paper instructions in the 1.0 box is with 1.1?  Also, is the in-game help updated for 1.1 as well?

There is a 1.1 manual included in the files. Updated on 12/14/10.

Magnar
o Diabolical. Can convert resources to other resources.
o Evil. Additional 10% penalty when fighting on opposing terrain.

Read the manual. I realize some of it is out of date but wow I never remember this (check the talents to :)

can somebody till me why building multiple huts only increases my pop cap by 25?  is it 25 per hut or just 25 if you build a minimum of one hut?

It's 25 per hut. You only build one improvement at a time (although you can put multiple buildings into a queue), so keep that in mind (the counter at the top wont change until the hut is built, it will slowly go up as people flock into your city).

ok. got it. another question regarding moving the soverign around. it seems like i can move him around in an unlimited fashion without hitting the next turn button.  i'm used to having to hit the "next turn/end turn" button before getting more movement points for any unit(i.e. Civ V style).

Your turns are probably passing without you noticing. The 'auto end turn' option is on by default.

Starting equipment of the sovereign and other champions cannot be traded or sold, only the ones you bought afterwards.

As for equipment on normal troops they cannot be traded, sold or upgraded ever. You can only disband them to get rid of them (or use them for scouting until some roaming monsters kill them).

You trade equipment between heroes by having them in the same tile.  There will be an option for "trade equipment" or some such in the same place where you have Cast, Visit Shop, etc.

Welcome mark,

yes, I, too, would love to hear (read) your thoughts and comments after playing 1.1, while never having played the 1.09, or earlier versions.  Please do share your experiences.  Again, welcome.
