[1.1] Some painfull and probably easy to fix bugs and problems
The game is much, much better with the 1.1, good job. But there are still things that could be change for very little cost and have a big impact on the enjoyment...
- The first one is not about the game... The "search" button in the forum window does nothing... (https://forums.elementalgame.com/forum/877) ; I'm using firefox 3.6.3.. So, I'm sorry if I repeat something that is often told... While I told some of these myself some months ago already, but was obviously not heard.
- When I click somewhere on the map, one time on four or five, the game understand another tile than the one I clickled on, sometimes even two tiles away. This is makes the game a highly frustrating experience. This lasts from the very first release, and I don't understand why you didn't fix it yet with the highest priority... You should at least add a highlight feature to show what the game thinks the player is about to click on.
- This is not really a bug, but more of a design error : you still cannot choose a character target to spells if the character target is in an army. It is always the first unit that is targeted, no matter what. How silly is this ? This is a huge, incredible problem: please, fix it !
- When hovering a unit in a town with several units, the displayed card is often weird ; for example, I can see a caravan with 14/24 HP. If I select this caravan within the town, the displayed infos of the selection in the bottom pannel also is the wrong one.
- When commanding a unit to exit a town or a group, that unit should be automatically selected.
- The "equip" window is badly lacking "next/previous unit" buttons. When champions are grouped, having several champions inventories on the same screen would be a lot better. It also could replace the "trade" screen with, with some drag and drop.
- The shop screen is still the worst ever, because lacking the equiped inventory of the currently selected champion. Having several of the stack's champions inventories with prev/next buttons when needed would be even better. The merchant's portrait is nice, but not very functionnal: this would be a far better use of the screen space.
- When purchasing an equipment, a champion should equip it automatically, especially if it gives no penalty, if the character has no equivalent equiped, or if it is better than the ones he is wearing.
- One of the loading tips is still refering to the old game rules, about the strength inner workings
Other things :
- The caravans are very hard to track when not yet established. in the begining of the game, when the world is not explored very much yet, I usually send them blindly in the direction of my allies, and this makes it easy to forget them idling in the wilds.
- A minor bug I just noticed: I was ordering a newly built caravan to exit a city with some heroes to get out. I don't know why, but the city was still selected after the move, and the caravan portrait was still in the city's units... I was unable to reproduce it.
- When more than one city becomes idle on the same turn, several dialogs ask if you want to build something new. This dialog is a very good idea in the first place, but this way, the second one becomes very annoying. A non-modal dialog with the list of cities, wich would put itself in a corner when the first city is selected would probably be more efficient. Or maybe include a reminder in the building interface. Moreover, if another player speak to you on that turn, you get the related window before you can start to build, which is quite annoying too. Displaying these before the build reminder would simply correct this problem.
- My daughter-in-law is marked as simply my daughter in her card.
- Once I captured an empire city, playing as a kingdom, I got the empire musics.
- When alt-tabing, the ambiance sounds still play, but the music stops...
- I've seen a wandering party of heroes attack a sand golem. Their running animation stuck, so that they where like on a treadmill...
- After having changed the option "smart player colors" from on to off, some of the influence boundaries of me and the AI disappeared. The option had been set on from the beginning of the game. Going in the option (to check this options' name) and closing it right away fixed this.
- I have several units belonging to an other player that seem stuck on the edge of my borders. Among them, a pionneer, so I doubt it is for military reasons. It's like the AI player gave them an order to go to somewhere they could not accomplish, and forgot to check upon them afterwards, waiting for them to say they had completed the command.
- It would help if the currently selected unit was highlighted in the units list on the left.
