Patch 1.1 size too big :(
Is there anyway I can patch this game at another computer and transfer them?
I still have a bandwidth cap so 1.99gig is about 1.89gig too big right now.

you can simple copy paste the folder from another pc
the patch shouldnt be 2 gigs big. you probably installed some beta patch and there is a bug that will make impulse download far to much.
deactivate "show pre-release version" and the shift-right click on the game and then on verify.
If you have bought the game online through Impulse, then the Impulse DRM will prevent you from doing that.
There is no Impulse DRM.
It said it was a 2GB download for me too but when I clicked update it was done in less than a minute, so it can't have been. Probably just an error with Impulse.
When FrogBoss (pronounced FlogBoss by Koreans :-p) sees the quoted posts, he is going . to . post . like . this . and . raze . this . thread.
there is no drm simple copy paste the folder go to impulse and go to detect aplication find it and you are rdy to go ![]()
thanks for the replys. Will try the verify .
I verified it and now it is d-loading a 1.91gig update. I did have the 1.09n BETA installed. I think I have the original 1.0 game on a USB drive somewhere. Maybe a new install will help.
That's nothing! Try installing Mass Effect 2 from impulse (REQUIRES 36 GB Free Space).
I'm still looking for things to delete 2 weeks after purchase.
I had to check and uncheck the show prerelease box in preference + do a refresh for the elemental status and restart Impulse a few times before I got it to display a 9 meg download to go from 1.09w to 1.1.
I had to jump through similar hoops to cut the download down when going from 1.09u to 1.09w.
That used to throw me off as well. That 2GB size you see is for the entire game, but the update is only about 40MB because Impulse only updates a few of the files.
Or just copy and paste and run the executable directly. You only need to register it with Impulse if you want to update it online. Otherwise, you don't need it.
If you ask me, the first thing you could delete is Mass Effect 2. It's one of the most disappointing games I have played the last ten years, only topped by Dragon Age. BioWare used to be my favorite, but I've lost all respect for them. I don't even think The Old Republic will be any good. I will of course try it, though. A lot. A lot lot. ![]()
OP: I just checked, and the entire game with the the 1.1 patch is only 2.24GB in total. My guess is you installed it wrong, so Impulse tries to download the entire game all over against instead of just the patch. I too have a limit to how much I can download, but for me it's fortunately 6GB. Which isn't much, but fortunately I got a nice collector's edtion box in the mail weeks after I downloaded the game even though I live in Norway-That impressed me. ![]()
It was never installed incorrectly. If it was installed incorrectly why did it update to 1.09n than decide now that it is installed incorrectly. Impulse just sucks. I will delete the reactor than try again.
Can't find my copy on the flashdrive and removing impulse and re-installing didn't help. I had a problem before where it wouldn't update and had to remove impulse. If it won't allow me to update I guess I won't bother. Too big of a disappointment as a MOM successor anyways.
Why dont you post this in the support forum instead of the general forum?
I was also dreading the 1.99 GB update.. after about two hours of trying to get a reasonable size of the update to show (restored archive many times, shift+click and verify etc) I went ahead and clicked update..
the download has started.. *hallelujah* *angels singing*.. only 11.5 MB total even though it was showing 1.99 GB..
Sounds like somethings wacked on your end, then. This most likely isn't an Impulse problem.
Uhm, because you can't figure how to install the game, you are saying the game's a disappointment? That's quite amusing.
Maybe you should post this in the tech forums, or even hit up the Impulse Tech support. I've had both the beta versions and it made the transitions quite elegantly. Simply downloaded a 30-ish meg file.
And I don't seem to understand what you mean when you said you moved the game too a flashdrive? If you didn't know this, Windows operates on a registry system, where most games HAVE TO be "installed" using their own installation process. Most games, there are exceptions, can't be simply moved using some storage device and then copy/pasting it. Windows will be clueless as to where are the files for the game is or what it needs. No idea how you handled your installation process but it seems a little out of wack.
Before deleting impulse did you literally uninstall the game? Or did you just delete the folders? Again, quite important to run uninstall process! Or else it can leave orphaned Registry values, which will conflict with any further installations. I had an issue where after careless modding of a game, I seemed to had corrupted some core files, and wasn't able to uninstall the game anymore. I had to delete the files manually, and then go in the registry to delete the references to that game. Since when I tried to resintall it I would get messages saying the game was already installed, and obviously repairing it made the program unhappy
.
Anyways, I just suggest you post your issues in more appropriate section. Like Tech support here or on Impulses side.
Cheers,
V.
As a MOM successor yes it is a big disappointment so far and I don't say that because it won't update I say that because it is and has been terrible. Hope it has changed with this patch.
I will post in tech support.
There is a big thread going there now so I will just read up on it and see if anything was figured out.
To add some incentive, it's a great improvement.
The game is heading in a better direction than it had on release. Global Mana pool and the new city building/population really help. I find magic to be nerfed in a way, but it's much more flavorful than 1.09 and down.
I'm sure you will be pleasently surprised.
I still find it lacks some MOM traits but you'll surely see that it's going to be an ongoing process.
Hope you get to enjoy it!
No luck over at the tech support forums but at least I know it isn't just me. Alot of people having this problem with the big downloads so I hope they will fix this soon.
Thanks for any suggestions.
You have the game registered correct? When I installed the game, I checked for an update it said over 2GB but once I registered the game it said 234MB going from 1.00 to 1.10.
As I understand it you can use http://anywhere.impulsedriven.com/ to download a patch on another computer then apply it on your machine. You need an impulse account to get the patch, and to have purchased the game.
I haven't verified this by trying it, but it may be worth checking out.
EDIT I checked and you can only download the full game, not just a patch.
