How to play on underpowered PC?

General tips appreciated

Hi!

I bought Elemental in an anticipation of a long running series much as GalCiv2 (and I dig the love they put into turn-based PC Games). While GalCiv2 runs fine on my laptops, unfortunately I didn't pay attention to the tech specs and it turns out that Elemental has a bunch of problems with my machine(s).

Is there anybody who can maybe give me some general pointers (I can't give exact specs right now, because I am writing from a different, even less powerful laptop right now ;-)), what I can do to make Elemental playable on a subpar system?

Play on cloth map only (there is a setting in options) and use auto-resolve for battles. I used to do this before I got a new comp.
