Bug with food production or... ?

Hi all.

I have a question. I build a farm which brings +5 foods during a season. If I correctly understand that food should go to a pool constantly (like materials or golds), but it doesn't go there. And simply shows that at me 5 foods and all. At construction of each house it is written off on 1 food, hence after construction of 5 houses the food comes to an end. It is impossible to build at home, the city doesn't develop in level as the population doesn't grow any more.
Question: it is a bug or and should be?

^_^   No. Food = the number of huts you can build. If you have 5 food, that means you can build 5 huts. I can see why you might think it would work the same way as the other resources, but I think this way adds a perishable aspect to food that other resources do not have.

I do think we should be able to sell that extra food in trade for other resources, but that is a different discussion altogether.

it is a constant number, food will not stockpile, so 5 food from farm will let you build 5 homes at one food each.

As I mentioned in this thread here, food is a capacity.    This in fact illustrates exactly why I think the display should be changed, because if it were formatted the way population is, I don't think there would be confusion quite like there is now.

food allow you to build housing.  housing increases the population capacity of the settlement.  So, indirectly, via housing, the 5 food is 'consumed' every turn by the five 'people' in the settlement.  The five people, now fed, can be assigned to various tasks.

Excuse that I come back to this theme again, BUT. To a patch 1.1 help showed that (for example) from one farm at me just 5 foods. After patch 1.1 help is shown that from one farm arrival to a season +5 foods.

Besides at technology research (which increases food arrival by 25 %) there is an addition of 1 food in a pool, and the help writes that arrival of food to a season +1.3 (for example). We look further. In the future it is possible to build houses giving +100 to the population which demand (from resources)  -1 food per turn! But if the gain of food isn't present, these houses what for are necessary???

Therefore I also have brought up a question: whether a bug it.
