If Elemental is bought from a retail store before 12/31 are they included in the free expansion?

I convinced my friends to pick up elemental but they are getting it through a retail store, are they eligable for the free expansion?

They have to register the copy through impulse before then to be eligible. They'll want to register anyway to download the updates.

I believe you have to update it on Impulse before 12/31 to get the expansion free.

Shoulda told me that before i bought the box/digital combo through impulse.. i woulda ordered it via amazon or something :P

Interesting.  Doesn't Stardock make more profit through digital sales because there's no middle man taking his cut?  But I guess you also need the exposure that comes from a retail presence.

On that note, Elemental is still sitting prominently on end-caps at my local Best Buy stores, so it's still getting high visibility.  I think what Elemental really needs at this point are some "Second Look" articles on major websites to promote the release of v1.1.
