What maps do you like?

Right now I just click the refresh bar until a map I can pronounce pops up and then wing it. I've seen some random map editors and I know people can design custom maps too. Whats your favorite method of map selection?

I prefer random map generation. Makes for a more interesting game each time.

Random can have its problems. Although the random map I  am playing right now feels like river world; Long valleys with steep sides. There are 8 players but so far I have only found one other player and I figure I have explored half the large map already. I think the Ai is finding it difficult to branch out and discover resources.

Does this mean that the name of the world affects the generated map? Because that would be kind of cool if I liked a particular map and wanted to play on it again.

Until the AI is able play on a map of islands/continents, map creations is very limited.

I think it is saving each map you play on. When i go into the load map screen, i see some of the names of maps i have played on before by using the random generator.

You guys realize that the games does not produce truly "random" maps, right?  It just uses a set of seed maps with random placement of resources.

That said, I generate all the maps I use with Elementerra.  See the sticky in the mod forum.  ;)

Has no one here heard the good news of the gospel of Prirod? Best map so far.

A proper random map generator would certainly do a lot for long-term replayability. Random resource placement on canned maps is OK, but it never feels like a new game when the terrain is familiar.
