I built one of these in my last game as empire. The unit appeared to have no special abilities. I'm curious as what they are supposed to do?

Where can I find ambassadors ingame?!? (And how do they taste?!?)
What, the ambassadors run away screaming you say ? That can't be good for our political mojo....
i would hope they'd be able to enter enemy territory without incurring a declaration of war. that would give them a little more purpose. of course, the fact that they're buried so deep in the tech tree that you've fought 2 wars before then might make this function slightly pointless.
Could a dev please answer as to what an Ambassador does? The description does say they produce diplomatic capital but I couldn't ascertain a function for them (my diplomatic capital did not increase after building one).
Maybe you have to bring them over to an allied city like a caravan?
Caravans are the only thing I research in diplomacy line so I am pro at using them now >_>
Ambassadors get repelled from other empire borders like any other unit. Think they're not fully developed in the current builds.
Caravans are okay, but they really shouldn't be able to trade with other factions until trade agreements have been made. Right now they pretty much can be used for spying. You really shouldn't be able to see what units are in a city, or anything about that city without developing other Tech (like spies).
Hey, don't nerf my elite caravan recon squad. They are just innocent peddlers, nothing to see here!
First they take your talking wolves and then your caravan spies and next thing you know you have nothing left
