need help on spells

first off i downloaded supposedly "good" game update thru impulse.  now my spell menu is all jacked up.  theres no way to go to second page of spell book. also how do you cast a spell?  i open my spell book. i right click a spell. nothing.  i left click a spell nothing. i double click a spell and then it casts the spell where ever doesnt let me target anything.  also i cant cast spells in combat says i have to target an enemy but it wont let me target them.  help any ideas people?  thanks :)

Which version are you running is a good place to start.

click once on the spell (left), then chose the 'cast' button on the right side of the spellbook. the gui is extremely inefficient as I and others have pointed out a few times, but all the suggestions have been ignored so far..

doubleclicking does indeed select the spell directly but also selects a target (directly under your mousepointer), thus the warnings about invalid targets. right clicking does nothing, except when you're already targeting a spell (your mousepointer changes its icon to a wand), in that case right-click aborts the targeting.
