Researching Economics can destroy your economy. Issues with Housing

Reason- when you upgrade your huts to houses, you lose the benefit of the hut.  This causes your max pop to crash, which can really wreck your economy fast.  In a game where I didn't get to do it until later, I was losing 20 gildar/turn.  Having a big city makes this worse.

Suggested fix: make the act of upgrading a housing structure not lose the population benefits of the housing structure.  Either that or make the upgrades 1 turn to do.

they take turns??

I honestly thought it was instant. Or atleast whenever I research the tech the side of my screen gets spammed with "City X upgraded dwelling y to new dwelling z!".

Mind you I finished my last game with 50,000 gold so I really wouldn't of noticed if everybody from my kingdom suddenly stopped paying taxes.

Hmm, +1. If it's a real issue :)

Well this would explain why my cash flow kept dipping....so you're saying houses that are upgraded from hovels to shanties (or w/e) are basically dead for taxation purposes? This would bear out, because my economy started to crash right when my main city started upgrading. It was low until I researched Slums and demolished all the shanties, replacing them with slums.

So maybe a work around is just to methodically demolish all upgraded shanties and replace them with rebuilt ones. Cities don't have that many by the time they reach Lvl 3, so you'll only lose some pop by doing it.
