Dowry for daughters?

Why does the computer value trading a son for a daughter on an equal scale? They are giving up (or getting) a free (probably spellcasting) champion. Shouldn't their be some sort of worth associated with making an arrangement that harms/helps the AI?

agreed - trading a daughter away should have a amount of coins depending on the factions power level that the daughter is leaving.

I would agree.

But what I would rather see would be the dynasty system working as advertised.

You trade your child away because they get a place in the line of succession. Meaning if you kill everybody above them, you then take control of the other kingdom.

End of cfehunter's quote

All I've seen "advertised" is "Build a dynasty marrying your children off to leaders of other factions to improve your diplomatic standing."  It does that.  Nothing more, nothing less.

I'm not saying that's right, but it is working "as advertised".  I'd prefer to see the whole dynasty/family thing built up into something MUCH larger.

I'd prefer to see it even just as a way to differentiate factions. Some cultures like the dude to live with the family. Some like to get their daughters the hell out of the house. Some factions could just prefer marriages where they gain people rather than when they have to give them away, or vicea versa.

Dynasty system definitely needs more love. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense atm but a good system would add to the game's unique attractiveness. Aging and perhaps people dying from old age would be a nice addition too. Giving away your daughter should at least get you some loot or political deal in return.

It should be part of the deal, to decide whether its the son of the daughter that leaves to marry out. Right now, all my sons get married and my daughters never do.

you should marry off daughters - their children might join your faction when they grow up - i had a game where almost all my daughters married off gave offspring that (almost) everyone of them joined my faction

I belive there should be some compensation for loosing a daughter, if not a cash dowry, maybe double the political bonus.

As a side note on the matter of dynasties, what's the point of listing "Nth in line for the throne of (you/them)" if ownership of the faction cannot change hands?  It would be very interesting to be able to shift the game from Player = Soverign to Player = Soverign's bloodline.  The player controlling the "1st in line" takes control of the faction.  Cities, units, treasury, everything.   A dynasty is a lineage of hereditary succession, not just a baby machine.

You should be able to offer a "dowry" in order to make sure that your new son or daughter in law ends up on your team instead of it being random.  I think this would be pretty easy to implement, as you can already buy allies champions. In a perfect world you would be able to have "dowries" of  everything from cities to alliances as well. This would make the system so much more political and awesome.
