My internet just went down a little while ago and I tried to fire up Elemental....and it won't let me play if my internet is not active. Is there something I need to do first on Impulse so that I can play offline? I suppose I could go crack a product I own so that I could, but I'd rather not have to resort to that.
There shouldn't be an issue with Elemental itself. Perhaps the problem is with you method of launch? Were you attempting to launch it through Impulse?
I tried both launching it alone and through Impulse, both told me I needed downloaded data files to play. Was that just because of the patch?
During the Beta, you have to be online to play. Once the stable 1.1 is released, they're getting rid of that requirement. It's so they can fix some things on their end without requiring a patch.
Playing a 1.09 beta version requires internet access, so they can make some changes to core files without having to release a new patch. The release 1.10 will not require internet access. Derek mentioned this in another recent thread (not sure which one it was though).
