Slow horses in TB

Why is my mounted Sovereign slower in tactical battles than a sand golem?  Are all the horses in Elemental cloth-eared nags that hobble around the battlefield?  Surely, riding a mount in battle will make you faster?  Right..? ;)

Well, not currently.  My sovereign on horseback moves 2 squares, a sand golem moves 3.  Is this to do with action points?  Surely it should have everything to do with the mount you are riding...  Maybe there should be different qualities of horses/wargs that we could purchase.  A little more variety in the mount market would certainly be appreciated.  But please, make them faster in TBs!

It is currently based on Action Points, but your make a good argument.  mounted unit should get some additional movement,

I think the issue is that while it makes sense for movement to be increased by a horse, it doesn't make sense for you to be able to cast more spells/swing your sword more times.  Currently in combat you use only tour combat action point pool.  To deal with this issue they would have to split movement apart from combat actions.  If they allow a horse to let you take more non-movement actions, it will be silly.

Yeah, here's to hoping for a change in the first expansion.

OK, that's weird.  My Sov moves 3, but then I have the Adventurer background.  Also, my Sand Golems have only been moving 2.

I have a custom race.  Wonder if that has anything to do with this...

I don't know  if it's possible programming wise but instead of increasing action points it could reduce the cost of moving from 1 to 0.8 action points.

This would be the sensible solution, yes.  Of course it would be better to split movement from other actions in TBs, but that might be too complicated for the current set-up.  Thank you all for your replies and thoughts, I hope that something can be done with this..  For one thing, it takes you out of the realism of the battles, if your mounted units are as slow, or slower than foot units.

Yeah i considered the reduced move cost but it seemed strange that a hero who was quick (more action points) somehow magically makes his horse faster.  I think splitting the two apart is the way to go.  I guess you could say that more agility = better riding skill but the idea that most of a horses speed comes from the rider seems a bit odd.
