What do Huts really do now?

A lot of info is outdated now, I'm not sure what huts do anymore. I see population grow even without adding more huts?

1. Do Huts help a settlement grow quicker?

2. How many do you really need?

You need huts to increase the population cap of a settlment.

You need as many as you need to reach the level you want the city to reach. It's based on alot of different factors so it's kind of hard to judge without knowing your exact research path.

That's what I thought but, I have settlements one with 80 people with only 3 huts ( 3 x 25 = 75) and another with 90 pepole and only 3 huts (3 x 25 = 75)?

The hubs themselves also add to pop cap. So for each level of city, the city hub can support the amount of people for the previous level plus a few.

After the death of Jabba, the Huts and their organised crime ring have all but dissipated, and control of Tattooine has been given over to the common thugs. The enforced stability once enjoyed by the residents there has been stripped away, and the streets are dangerous even during the day. There are reports of nearby systems exerting influence over the region, and working towards establishing a puppet government that would be friendly to their causes. Factionalism and insurgency have resulted in many killings, in their respective bids to seize control of the now rogue system. It is difficult to say if conditions on Tattooine are worse or much the same as when Jabba was in power, though he was a most hated figure.

Even without huts, you have a max pop of 10... so add 3x25 (75) to that, is 85 cap.... Also, there is a 'housing' type tech, that actually increases all pop cap by 10% total (not sure if once, or each time).. So.. 10% of 85 is 8.5.. round up to 9 (or down to 8, either way).. and that's 93/94 ..
