Game is unplayable, cant get very many turns in before it starts repeatedly crashing. This is one save/set of crashes but it happens with every game I try.
I've had none so far, and I'm 168 turns in. I was having them in previous version, but not now.
I sympathise JEFCRO, I'm having the same problems, was playing last night/early this morning (really enjoying the game) and managed a long game (165 seasons) with no crashes but now after trying 2 fresh games I get the game either freezing on me or crashing to the desktop after getting just a couple of cities upto level 2. If I load the autosave I get a couple of turns in and it freezes again. Will try clearing out the Elemental folder in My Documents and see if there is something in there causing problems.
I really want to play as the game is so much more enjoyable. ![]()
I am getting crashes as usual. The same crashing issue is still there from the previous versions and now with this new BETA it is even more unstable. I get crashes constantly loading saved games or doing anything. My computer can body slam this thing graphically yet it is just crash after crash after crash. So far no hope for anything remotely playable. This game crashes like one would expect an alpha build to do. Stardock needs to get SERIOUS about fixing the crashing.
Beta or not these crashes are easy to reproduce by simply booting up the game and playing it. Just like the training bug crash for level 3 cities. Are we honestly supposed to believe or accept that no one in Stardocks office tested the game enough to train a unit at a level 3 city? I play for like 10 min then I get a crash for loading a game, zooming in or out the map too much, or what have you.
Play the game on large map with all AI slots filled and see how quickly it crashes. Once the game progresses to any reasonable stage it crashes constantly.
I did a complete uninstall, deleting all folders, and reinstalled the beta from scratch. Will see if I get more CTDs.
For you guys with the CTD's, do you have any pre 1.09p 'legacy' units in your My Documents/My Games/Elemental/Units folder? Under 1.09o, it was suggested to remove these, and looking over the debug.err file, I could see several failed calls for game models when my game was 'stuck' at level 3 cities under 1.09o.
I haven't seen any issues under 1.09p (just the occasional crash), and mounts are no longer bogging down combat. I'm guessing some models were reworked/rebuilt/replaced, which would account for mount animations in combat being much smoother now.
As I remember, Derek strongly advised starting a new game under 1.09p, and to NOT use custom Sovereigns/Races built under previous builds.
I'd suggest posting your debug.err files up (using pastebin or similar), so the developer guys can see what's going on in your case.
