War Staff Attack 15?

Please someone add to the list for the next patch a review  of the soverign starting equipment available.

A Warstaff costs the same points as a normal staff and gives attack 15, any idea how far into the game I need to go to get a weapon that good normally?

It's been like this for a while.

Warstaffs can be had around level 3 or 4 in the warfare research tree.  I think that once you get equipment, improved weapons can be available and the warstaff is among them.  I am almost always more interested in producing veteran groups, so I usually don't see them until mid-game, but they can be had much earlier if you are willing to dedicate research towards better gear.

The war staff, when creating a sovereign, costs the same as a regular staff, but has 10 more power. WTF?

Also, longstrider boots are exactly the same as traveling boots or whatever.

War staff can be had in 2 or 3 levels of research, to beat it you need more than 6 levels, and would have researched tons of equipment that you will never use because the war staff was much better than a dagger, a mace, an axe, a short sword or anything else.

Just my point it's a weapon it's going to take you a good few years to tech up to, it's a lot better than anything else in the early game and much better than a normal staff that costs the same at character creation. The only downside you can't use a shield with it.

Exactly it takes a fair while to tech up that far, and war staff makes any encounter in the early game an easy win, it also costs exactly the same creation points as a normal staff.

They need to review Soverign creation options generally but this especially is unbalanced and out of place and has been for several patches (although before the beta it was a little weaker it was still much better than a normal staff at the same cost).

The talent that gives you 1 point towards arcane knowledge every turn gets cut off in its description. Kind of annoying.
