[1.09n] Multiple Construction/ City Level Up idea

I think one of the most apparent things in this beta is the need for faster construction in cities. So I thought of a possible solution to this problem. I think if cities could build 1 building per city level, it would really help this situation.

 

In addition to this change, I also had an idea for city level ups. Instead of picking a singular large bonus, wouldn't it be nice if we had a few points and put them into several differn't categories? Some ideas for categories are below:

Merchant City: +5% gildar output in the city.

Factory City: +5% material production.

Mining City: +5% metal production.

Arcane City: +5% magic research.

Research City: +5% technology research.

Military City: -5% reduction in training time.

Defending City: +1 group of conscripts fight in city defense.

Influential City: +5% influence bonus

Diplomatic City: +5% diplomacy Resource Production.

 

Any thoughts?

I actually disagree with this in general. I feel like cities develop fairly quickly as is, which tends to make construction bonus buildings kind of meaningless by the time you can build them. I think that upgrading the speed at which you construct improvements already has a profound effect on the game's pacing, and anything more would simply make city development less meaningful all together.


Now, as for your comments on expanding city level upgrades, I think this is generally a good idea though I am not sure if I completely agree with your ideas. I think these outline a good start, but they need to be balanced in such a way so that high level cities are significantly better than low level ones.

agree with kenata, the cities are building buildings at an okay rate for me... we just need more interesting things to build besides 25 archivists (+1 research).

 

i like the idea of multiple choices when cities level up.
