Bugs, Issues, Crashes, Suggestions, the lot

1. My game crashes every time on Summer 186 AC. Dont know why.

2. Half the time Janusk doesnt appear, especially when I am out of my sphere of influence/borders/whatever.

3. Monsters way too powerful early game. I get overrun even when doing everything I can half the time. (see earlier post)

4. I dont think the magical barrier from that one trait does anything. I have not noticed any difference.

5. Charisma doesnt seem to do anything.

6. There should be another type of spear, maybe a little weaker, that can also use shields. Ever heard of a phalanx?

7. I think if a unit has a high enough strength they should be able to double up on weapons. As in, If I have 30 strength I can have both a broadsword and a shield (right now broadsword is two-handed); or for weapons that are 1-handed, be able to equip two, for double damage (ie strength 25 I can equip two daggers, double damage)

I cannot attest to the 186 crash--mine are just random-- but I have only had Janusk not appear once.

3. Monsters do not seem too powerful but more so plentiful from my experience. My cities, as Frogboy suggested in earlier post, are well defended. I found that out the hard way. As a result, my games have been longer because it takes longer to go on the offensive.

4. Haven't used the magical barrier yet

5. Charisma for my sovereign seems to have lowered the price of recruiting heroes. Of course, this is after finding books that boost that level to about 26 or so.

6 & 7 sounds cool.

6) The point of phalanxes is that their strength come from their formation. No such thing in the game as it is. Also, one of the most powerful middle-age weapons was the halberd; currently, the game doesn't have much more than swords and hammers late game. I think we'll need to wait a bit for them to flesh out the weapons, and that probably means... fleshing out the system first.

Please open your debug.err file in notepad, and link the contents into a post here via pastebin. This will give us some technical information that can help troubleshoot your problem.

The file can be found in My Documents\My Games\Elemental

Be sure to copy the debug immediately after the error occurs; if you start the game again, the debug log will be erased and recreated for the new session.

If there was a dump zip created in C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Elemental - War of Magic (C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Stardock\Elemental - War of Magic on Windows XP), please post it via drop.io.

as far as i know, the strength of a phalanx was in their bronze armour. Their over the shoulder style of fighting with a spear was useful because people did not have very good protection around the neck and shoulder area so that despite having little penetration power, the spear was still able to get a killing hit.

edit: if anyone can add to that i would love to hear from them.

4. That's not true - it adds a cool graphic to the overland map (not the zoomed out version).  But otherwise, I can confirm that it in no way affects combat.  Unless it prevents any bonuses?  There's not even the half spear walls that you see in some battles, just a mud field (in my experience, anyway).

5. As I posted elsewhere, I noticed that if I stay in my capital while building the beacon of hope, once it's built the prestige seems to have been added; I think it's just recalculated upon building, not on entering the city with a hero.  Wasn't paying attention upon leaving the city, so I don't know if that's affected (probably, from someone else's post about going into negative prestige).
