Anyone else have this problem?

I do not know if it has been discussed, but half of my games on normal difficulty my capital is overrun by creatures and monsters. This is usually within the first 25 turns! I did everything I could on the last one. I managed to train one peasant. I recruited three heroes, and gave them and myself the best weapons I could buy at the time, staffs. We still lost to a large group of spiders and darklings. WTF??

Even if what I attempted did work, who wants to focus on camping in a city for the first hundred turns anyway? I want to go explore, quest, play the game!

So, as the title states- is anyone else having this problem?

Yes and no. I am only into the 2nd game since beta launch. The first game I was attacked like crazy---not so much around turn 25 but certainly before 100. I lost one city before I got a handle on the problem. This second game my cities have only been attacked once or twice by monsters. Maybe it's random? I wonder if monsters are attracted more by cities that are not well defended? they continued to attack in the 1st game even after I was stacked---which kinda became a near waste of time because they no longer won. The attacks just detracted from my main objectives. Sorry I haven't played enough to give you a more definitive answer.

Mixed bag for me...

I have seen some large groups quite early, but they are not agressive.  They will eat caravans, but they aren't attacking cities.  Researching some gear and perhaps the healing spell pretty much allows you to knock these guys down with your sovereign or a champion.

So anyhow, yes, I have seen some groups of 4-5 early on, but I converted them into to experience and money.
