Continuing request to add invert camera

Still no invert camera X and Y in 1.1 beta.  Will one of the mods please say if this is even on their radar?  It is such a necessity for me that it makes the game camera so hard to navigate for me in it's current state.  It's like trying to write right-handed (I'm a lefty).

So again, please, please add camera invert options.

Thanks!

Yes please, i have the same problem.

It would be interesting to know what sort of brain malfunction you have when you need to invert the mouse in every game you play...

+1 for this.

I'm maybe not as in need of it as the original poster, but it's surely such an easy thing to implement, and it should really be in by default anyway.

I don't think it's a brain issue so much as a perceptual one. For me, Elemental scrolls exactly as I expect it to (you "grab" the map and "pull"), but I simply must have a Y invert in first person games or I stumble around the game world like a drunken fool. I think it comes from playing so many flight sims early in life (Star Raiders I/II, Rescue on Fractalis, Skyfox/Starfox, Mercenary) that the whole "point the nose where you want to go" became my default hand-eye reaction.

I don't really edge scroll myself, I zoom in and out to get around mostly seems more natural than any other navigation method. Still I'm sure they will add it if there is enough call so far about 3 people want it so guess it won't be a high priority.

I can understand needing this in a n FPS but not really in this sort of game to be honest.

It seems my game, sometimes, invert camera X movement itself.

Really a strange bug

one more

Exactly my problem.  I need Y invert because of all the flight sims and MechWarrior I used to play.  It is second nature to me to pull back on the mouse and have it nose up like flying a plane.

I would really love to hear from a dev on this issue.

+1 for me. It's just a matter of preference and/or familiarity. You should be able to invert both axes.

As far as I can tell Elementals camera positioning is already inverted. You want an option to set the camera normally? That would be unlike any flight sim I've played... I'm confused.

This would really be nice to have. One of those small things that mean a lot in the overall "polished" feel of the game.

Can this be hard to implement? I would think not, just change a couple of signs from plus to minus and the other way according to which flags are set. But of course the devil is in the details..

I'm going to bump this one. After quite a bit of time with E:WoM I've given up on ever trying to move the camera around since it never moves like I expect it to.

I think the way it moves is different from the default in most other similar games. I've played King's Bounty and Fantasy Wars recently and haven't had the problem in those games.

Isn't axis inversion a rather simple task in programming terms?

Can someone explain to me what is not inverted about the camera movement in Elemental? As far as I can tell its already inverted.

When I pull back (downwards) on the mouse (or whatever keypress it is), I want the camera to tilt up.  When I push the mouse forward (or whatever kepyress), I want the camera to tilt down.

Just like the flightstick of an airplane.

I can't believe that NOBODY from Stardock has even commented on this.

Come on guys, please at least respond.  Please add camera y invert.  As another poster mentioned, it is almost playable for me because my brain is wired for y invert flight sim mode.

Stardock - where are you?

For me, it is a necessity in any game that has a moveable camera.  Total War games have it.  Hell, I'm pretty sure even King's Bounty has it.

Ok, if you want to split hairs: Whatever you call the current camera, I would prefer to have an option to invert it. Mainly Y-axis. If it's already inverted, then that would naturally be the inverse of the inverse, which you would probably call normal.

Inversing the camera is just a +/- switch, you can do it however many times you want. Inverse of + being -, and inverse of - being +.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by invert the camera.  By this do you mean switch the X and Y on the mouse?  Can't you do that with the mouse software / sys software?  OR does EWoM override the sys settings?

Do you know what we refer to as the camera? Pressing down the middle mouse button and then tilting the view around? When a mouse is moved up with the middle mouse button pressed, it goes into the opposite direction than some people intuitively assume. This has nothing to do with edge scrolling econundrum1 referred to. It's just about changing the viewing angle.

This is a change that would be trivial to make.... so i'm guessing they are leaving it out for now because it is low priority.

It would take more work for them to add this to the options screen than to add it to the code... so yeah it should come along one day.
