Sins of a Solar Empire

Diplomacy

I just bought and downloaded the game today.  I tried playing it for the first time tonight and the screen goes black and nothing happens.  When the game finally closes out, there is a message saying that the game performed a mini dump.  Then a pop-up appears saying that the game stopped working.. How do I fix that?

Have you already patched it to the most current version?  I assume you have, but you never know.  You might want to check.

Have you already restarted your computer (important if you had to update DirectX or anything like that)

Do you have the latest video card drivers? ( what is your video card, and what is your Operating system)

If push comes to shove, you should be able to upload your mini-dump somewhere and link it here and somebody would be able to help.

Hi Sisco900,

I've been having this issue with Sins now for a few months. The game has worked flawlessly for nearly a year and now it suddenly hangs with mini dumps. I already sent Ironclad Games a support ticket with necessary files, but you guessed it...no reply. And the game still performs mini dumps and hangs. Not sure if this due to recent updates to Impulse or something else, but as it stands now I'm out $40. Once I uninstalled Sins along with manual deletion of left over files and folders, which actually worked for a while, but then I go to play one day and suddenly, yup you got it, back to the ole minidump routine. Anyway, I think this one isn't on our end friend. It's up to Ironclad and or Stardock to get their hands dirty with fixing Sins, but then again, Stardock is still trying to iron out their mess with Elemental.

Love the game, and hope to be able to play again soon. For now, it's been shelved so to speak.

Have you followed up with your support ticket?  or sent an e-mail to [email protected] ?  While I feel this should not be necessary, but if you get no reply at all you may want to find out why they have not at least responded.  (it very well might be they think they fixed your issue in an old patch since you did not inform them the issue continues)

by "reinstall" I assume you mean 'uninstall' then 'install' rather than just 'install over existing install'?  Perhaps you can badger them on IRC.
