Orcs and more?
I am playing the Mod of the Elves, is there anymore Races being worked on, like Orcs or Goblins? I also am using the undead mod too!

Not yet. I think the Urxen are close enough to orcs to kind of make it... a bit less useful to make an orc race.
Why is it a bit less useful to make an orc race. I love your work Heavenfall and Raven too, I hope you guys make more.
I, for one, think an orc race would be awesome. Urxen are too similar to humans in my opinion.
Well what would you do different from the urxen?
Make them green and tusks come out of their mouths. Add buildings for them. Someone could come up with custom weapons.

Are the Urxen a playable race? I would make the Orcs a playable race. They would have muscles green skin. Start off with axes. After that I would have to keep thinking of stuff. I can't be the only one besides Onionfighter who would like to see them in this game.

Probably wouldn't be too hard to re-skin Urxen to the proper ork green, and the alternative hairstyles that already exist (mohawks, top-knots etc.) would work fine for da boyz. Still though, standard empire buildings are wrong. Where elves had lots of trees to accent their mod, the orkz needs pilez of junk all lyin' around. An then the boyz need humie pitts, I mean human pits, wen da warboss needz a snak for lates at nite cuz hiz heds movin' too fast dinkin bowt whoz he gonna stomp next lik da Magnar cuz des stinky so much even wurs den da boyz after deyz ben fytin' fer a week, or Altar boyz cus dey week and soft and tastee, heh he ehe well feerzone betur not talk mor abowt Altar boyz or Inturnet copz cum nockin' on hiz door wunderin if hez got sum notty pikchures on hiz kumputer and he needz to stomp dem too but good!
Green orc=fail the only REAL orcs are the ones in Tolkien's Lord of The Rings.
Tolkien orcs are good only if you are playing the other side and you want to kill a bunch of them, and even then they are nothing special. If you want to play orcs, or orks, then it's Warhammer who got it right, with an honorable mention going to Warcraft.
The Urxen don't start off with axes. Like the Elves start off with Archers.

May I ask a few stupid (from your knowledge perspective) questions?
So I've been trying to document the game from a straight 'this is what I observe, so this is what I report' sort of way.
I've just become aware, from play, and this is play of a little bit every day since September, that a city retains its racial trait after conquest and can sell an item that your base race can not sell (e.g. I start with a Wraith base custom faction, take over a Relias/Men city, now I can buy Traveler Boots for Janusk if he is in range of the city I just took over).
So I guess my questions are:
1) clearly race can have a more meaningful impact than just the game experience lends itself to, are there other items than what is evident (the faction creator choices, the skins, etc.)? This gives me even more hope (I'm already on board, but I didn't think the engine was that far).
2) are there any 'behind the scenes' racial modifiers presently (1.09e) that I can't see via play but exist?
I have just discovered this sub-forum and I know nothing of XML, but if you look at http://www.gamefaqs.com/pc/954860-elemental-war-of-magic/faqs you will understand my passion. ![]()
1) Besides the empire/kingdom cityhubs, the only thing I can think of is that you may find some special items in the "minor" faction cities. Check out the cityhub files if you're interested in what items.
2) Well the big one is the 8 hp fallen units that empire have access to by default. It's the pre-designed peasant/pioneer. If you select it, and then click upgrade, you can design some pretty imba stuff. Oh, and in case it wasn't obvious, the "fallen" model has access to different gear than the other models. If you want the best of two worlds, you'll want to play with Resoln, as they get both the standard model, and the fallen model.
How do you change the skin color of the Urxen?
Upon further reflection, I don't think there needs to specifically be a new "orc" race, unless someone really wants orcs. What I would really like is a greater fleshing out of differences between the factions that already exist. When I play the empire, other empire and kingdom factions still talk to me in the same way they did when I was playing a kingdom faction. There aren't even any vanilla empire heroes!
Also, I have been able to create sovereigns with unique skin colors, but not entire factions.
how did you do that? What program would I need.
There are a few more files that need to be changed. If you guys can come up with a decent green-ish colour, I can hook it up for you (and you can see how it's done as well).
