ancient ruins vanishing?

In my last game, when i got to the stage of having the grey ancient ruins with the spiders that don't give you a turn in combat.... i noticed there were quite a number of those ruins on the map, then suddenly they wee all gone?

I thought it may have happened after a reload of the game or perhaps it happened after i won the first spider battle? I was only able to do one ruins spider battle in the entire game, is that how it is supposed to work perhaps?

Either way, i am at that stage again in a new game, and i have allot of ancient ruins in my area, so i don't want them to all dissapear like before, so what should i do?

Yeah...

There are two, non-repeatable quests for level 4 dungeons.

There is one non-repeatable quest for level 5 dungeons.

No quest, no dungeon, poof.

These are level 3 ruins (or so i thought?)- the ones that look a bit like ancient Roman/Greek ruins and have the group of spiders that you have to fight.

I wonder would it help at all if i set up multiple combat groups near different spider ruins and hit them all in the same turn?

Rather odd to seed the map with so many - 2 or 3 even in sight of one another and yet they all just add up to '1'??

We'll be getting some new Quests and Notable Locations with 1.1, so hopefully we'll be seeing less of this kind of thing in the future.

You -could- always go into the Quest XML's and set them all to be repeatable if you wanted to though.  (If you've no experience with HTML or XML, it doesn't matter so much.  It's really not that hard, you're just changing some 0's to 1's in the section of XML code tagged as <Repeatable>.)

Edit:  If you were to make use of the suggestion above, it would behoove you, before editing said files, to COPY them to a different location, preferrably the Mods folder contained within the Elemental folder, and then modify the copy and load it as a mod, rather than changing the base-code.

Making it repeatable would not be all that exciting since you would always get the same reward each time rite?

The spider battle is a particularly interesting monster battle, so it seems a shame to waste it on just once per game? Have a heap of them and then get a different reward for each one!

At the very least, it should be a quest, so you don't get all those meaningless 'shadow' relics spawning all over the map!

Well, you get the same reward, but you got the xp too :)

if it's not repeatable it shouldn't spawn more than 1 in the whole map surely. need to get rid of spawning altogether (ie appear only at map creation) and change how research works.
