Returning Dragons egg, no dragon.

So I'm at the point where I've collected the Dragons egg, and it's in my sov's inventory.  When I return to the yellow spot where the dragon is, I get the message about her joining me, but nothing happens.  I have a save game at this point, but I don't know if anyone has figgured out what's wrong with the trigger.  (I.e. do I need to go in with a different hero, fewer characters, less stuff in my inventory, whatever.)

 

If posting this save would be helpful, let me know.  If there is a way to work around the problem, I would appreciate knowing that as well, as I would like to continue the game with the dragon if possible.

 

If there's no workaround, but the problem is already fixed in 1.1, it would be nice to know that as well.

I read in another thread that the problem arises if you save the game while on your way to return the dragons egg.  In this case, someone posted that the dragon joining message appears, but the dragon never joins you.  I definitely did save on my way to the dragon, and this sounds like the problem I am seeing.

Another legend goes like this: you got to do the whole mission with your sovreign and I forgo wether the egg should be selected in the inventory or not but that was also part of the legend... Bah!

i did manage to get the dragon once actually... Anyway it's a known issue, I am sure thet'll fiix it.

Here is a work around:

Unfortunately you have to reload to just before the battle at the temple where you found the egg.  Then be sure not to save until you have returned the egg.

Very cool.   So this quest should work in 1.1.  Any thoughts if there is a workaround for my current game?  If not, I'll just write it off.

 

(Edit.  Don't have a saved game from early enough.)

I've tried to do the master quest + Sarog's egg several times, but only managed to do it once.  All other times the quest-line just died on me, somewhere along the line.  It's worth it though, better than the campaign IMHO, so keep trying until it works.

Yeah, looks the unit that started the quest wasn't being properly saved...while most quests didn't make use of it, the ones that did (Sarog's Egg, for example) would get messed up if the loaded game had those quests started.

Next update will probably be the 1.1 beta...too many deep code changes at this point to do a hotfix, I'm afraid :(

same problem here, although I didn't save on a way back... maybe autosave... When I returned to the Dragon there was no dialog option... :( sad, awaiting 1.1 :)
