Welcome to the Elemental Community

An introduction to new players

Welcome to the Elemental Community!

If you're new to a Stardock game community you're in for a real treat.

Here are a few things to be aware of and help make your stay with us more enjoyable.

1. The developers of the games we make actively participate in the forums. The game itself is only part of the experience. Hanging out with you guys, chatting about the game, coming up with new ideas for the future is part of what we enjoy doing as well.

2. The CEO of Stardock (me) actively participates. My involvement ebbs and flows depending on what's needed but I'm always around.

3. Stardock games evolve over time.  We're our own publisher AND developer. Other than Valve, we may be the last independent game developer that also publishes its own titles at retail and digitally on its own service. What this means is that what you're playing right now is likely to change and improve over time based on feedback from the community.

4. The community revolves around mutual respect. Because the actual developers of the games we make participate, we have a lot less tolerance for rage-posts or flaming. As a result, you will see posts get locked and abusive users get booted.  We welcome constructive criticism and lively debates here. Just try to remember there's another human being on the other end of the screen before you hit the post button.

5. We may not always (or even usually) comment on each thread but we read nearly every thread on the forums at some point.

6. A lot of the participants here have been here a long time (see the karma ratings next to them). We all help each other here. We're all on the same side.

7. Feel free to post your own experiences, ideas, fan fictions, game play examples, you name it. Just try to use the proper sub forum.

8. There is a little button in the top right of the forums that flattens the forums. If you do this, you'll see all the latest posts from sub forums from their parent.

9. We're everywhere. That is, the people here are from around the world. Please avoid bashing a particular country. If you want to debate politics or ideology or what have you, feel free to visit www.politicalmachine.com and participate in those forums there or go to www.joeueuser.com and participate there.

10. We're all on the same side here. We're all here because we love the game and want it to get better and better.  Elemental had a rough start but we love it and will be working as long as it takes to keep making it reach its potential.  As long as people are interested in the game, we'll stick to it.

Enjoy and have fun!

Thanks Frogboy, Loving the "experience" so far but people are getting hostile on the Elemental forum. Some sort of update on the progress of 1.1 would really help to calm everybody down. I am guessing that October is not going to happen but there are people willing to drive to MI for a face to face as of the status of an update. Coming up on 4 days with no news, throw us a bone , please!!

I'll see what I can do. :-)

Some of the guys are at Blizzcon on vacation.  I was actually out this week moving.  I'll gather up what's been a-happening and put it up shortly.

Thanks man, it is getting ugly. I have been monkeying around in the attic, new insulation, and OSB decking for storage. Any info will calm us though!

Hi!

Can someone (Frogboy?) please answer, is there coming an hotseat mp mode?

If not, then why not? I think hotseat is perfect for this kind of games like moo2, civ, etc, they all had hotseat. Also hotseat should be easier to implement than network multiplayer.

I also have ohter question. Why elemental says that my account doesnt have license or something when I try mp? Even tho I can play the sp game and have paid.

Hello one and all.

I am new here.

Tonight, when I get home, I will be buying Elemental: WoM via Impulse.

I've been warned to wait until the game has been ironed out further, but honestly, I can't seem to control myself.  I need it now, today, tonight, yesterday.

o.o

Maybe I should seek counseling?  Nay!  That would only make me believe that I can't handle myself.... :| Nevermind I said that....

So welcome me EWoM people!!  Welcome me!!!

-.-

Welcome. If you ask me you are picking a decent time to jump into the game. As long as your not afraid of a few bugs or crashes. Not sure if your going to start playing with the current beta or the last released version but my advise would be to go for the beta... it's less stable but there are so many changes in it which are really bringing the game alive.

Haha XD Welcome! Remember that there are no bugs, only features! And there are no crashes, only reminders of there being a real life beyond the game! :O

Now seriously, I hope that you get lucky and are of the group that doesn't have many problems with the technical side of the game. :) If by any chance that doesn't happen to be the case, let me point to the previous paragraph I wrote in this same post... ;)

Welcome. :)

heya... I was new here... well sort of. Been around SD for a while now, just allways stayed in the shadows and whatnot. Anyways, I'm going back to the shadows... seems that people with negative views (whether constructive or not) are met with alot more hostility than I'm comfortable with.

I'll check out EWoM again later down the road expecting to see what StarDock is famous for; excellent games.

:digichet: Take care.

Hi guys I am not super new though this is my first post.

I have just bought Elemental War of Magic but I cannot download the update 1.1? (like the note in my manual suggests I do), I go to http://www.impulsedriven.com/download but I cannot do it.  I guess it will be a pretty obvious answer but help would be appreciated.

It has just loaded up so that is good.

I have been keen on buying this game since before Christmas looking forward to giving it a go now!

Hi. :)

If you've got the Impulse client installed, just run that. You should have an Elemental download option in the games area. It downloads the most recent release version, so you will already have 1.1.

Thanks, I eventually found that last night but its detection and calculating were incredibly slow.  I am doing it now download speed is peaking at about 305.00 KB/s but it varies.
