E-Sword

E-Sword

Has anybody found an effective use for the Elementium Karrazan sword? I don't recall the 12K price-tag. In previous versions it was 1200 which I thought high for what it actually did. Maybe I'm expecting a cross between Excalibur & a light saber? I don't remember the last time I had 12K to blow in this game. If I did, I would presumably be powerful enough at that point to win the game without that sword.

Sometimes it does some kind of special damage, it occasionally hits one of my summoned guys and does like 40 points of damage & seems to inflect some kind of spell. Of course there is no description of this in the manual, so I have no idea what it is actually or what the chance is of it doing its special damage, it seems to have a small percentage chance, like critical hit, of happening. I typically make them a priority target for my archers.

I don't think anything is worth 12k in this game except squads. The squad cost of that sword might be cheaper, I havent checked.

You may be thinking of Sions, and that effect is particular to them.

It might be. There's no explanation in the manual, so there's no way of knowing for sure.

Click on enemies during tactical battles and, if I recall right, in the bottom of the screen the section that allows you to active the special abilities of your units shows their special abilities. There is a special ability present for Sions that explains their super attack.

FYI the 2 essential main effects you go for in melee design on kingdom side is either highest att value, vs. maximum combat speed for more hits per turn, then mov value as best you can depending on mounted combat research or equipment. Mounted range units built for speed in a squad that levels up a little is devastating.. If only they had magic bows...

You get your max att, low combat speed, highest armor units to draw fire, and if that doesn't kill the target outright in 2 hits, a low att max combat speed unit will be sure to finish it off, and typically all units take 1/3rd or less damage, and one of each can decimate a weak line 5-8  squares wide, easy.

This is why a hexagonal battle field is more dynamic and requires values be programmed for range of melee weapons, and giving typically 'special' weapons advantage to hit at short medium range. This is replicated by special abilities to the most part. The game lacks diversity still I think on special abilities, especially those which might not require spell points, like significantly better starting stats, or occasionally a champion that does better than +1 (insert bonus here)? Oh I know how about let Janus be a chick when playing a male character? Wait that's a different complaint that should go into the incest thread.. which I don't mind so much for the period but not daddy close.. cousin maybe, granddaughters, nice or nephew suspiciously when talking about neigh immortals.. I think the main defect should be sterility after one child or multiple layers in the fewer children trait.

The sword the sions use is not the elementium kazzaran sword. There are actually two kazzaran swords, one which the sions use and the elementium version which is available for champions to buy. This sword is not actually worth the price tag in fact or at least it wasn't the last time I looked. If you look at it closely, the regular kazzaran sword is around 200g and has 12 attack (same as the elementium version) and 2 bonus combat speed. The elementium version only has a 12 combat attack and no speed bonus, making it basically a waste.
