1. To uninstall Outlook, select the Microsoft Office selection in the "add/remove" programs window and then select the change/remove.  You "De-select" outlook and it will remove it.

2. To just stop the message, get "Silent Runners" and run it (it is at silentrunners.org) and run it (I tis a VBS script).  That will show you where all the startup programs are on your computer and you can search through the list and then use regedit to remove the entry that is prompting you to consolidate your email.

3. I am sure there is an option in Outlook 2003 to just stop that message, but I would need the exact message to figure out what it is and where it is doing.  If you can post the exact message (or at least most of it), I will look for the solution (I am running 2007, but the changes should not be too different).

Hi Dr. Guy,  here is the dialogue box that pops up when powering up my PC.  i one tried letting it "condense" the non-existant message and it took over 5 minutes... LOL.

The “!” exclamation point is inside a yellow colored equal lateral triangle, with rounded vertices.  One side is the “bottom” of the triangle.

Your problem is not Outlook. You are running out of disk space and your operating system is trying to find some standard solution how to get more (even if it would not work in your case). If you have some videos or unnecessary files on your hard disk, delete them and the dialog will appear no more. You may also uninstall some applications you do not use.

According to the error message it is outlook express ( default email in xp) not Outlook from MS Office. So you may want to look in outlook express for any settings on compacting the email.Mrakomo maybe on to something about you being low on disk space..

Outlook Express is the poor cousin (and free) of Outlook.  It may also be used for your News Feeds or other non email type of stuff.  And it cannot be removed (at least easily) unfortunately.  But the problem appears to be with Windows Search.  It wants to index Outlook Express folders too!  So the answer actually is in configuring Windows search - tell it to stop indexing the outlook express location.

Anyway. this link explains why it is running, and this link takes you through a step by step to get rid of it. Microsoft is just trying to be "too helpful" as people who use Outlook express do have problems that require the service regularly.  For the rest of us, it is just a nuisance.

On the good side, Microsoft has gotten rid of it in later versions of internet Explorer (which is probably how you got it) and their OS.  It is gone in Vista and 7. (Replaced my MS Mail).

To stop the error message,

right-click the magnifying glass icon in the main Windows tool bar,

and from the popup menu, choose “Windows Desktop Search Option.”

Look under “Included Locations” for an entry for Outlook Express.

Select it, and click the “Modify” button.

From the “Indexed Locations” popup, uncheck the Outlook Express entry

(or entries, if more than one).

Back out of all the dialogs, and the message should be gone.

Well, thank you Dr, et al.  i tried to follow the directions on the links.  Nothing matched.  Did my best.  failed.  What if i unstalled it? 

ok, this is going to take some time and probably a few posts.  First, open the control panels and then select the Folder Options (if you do not see it, click on the left the line that says "Switch to Classic View").

Once you open the Folder Options, go to View Tab and make sure the following are Checked/Unchecked:

Checked/Selected: Show hidden and System Files
Unchecked: Hide Protected Protected Operating System Files (Recommended).

Once you fix your folder options, just click ok to close it.  Next open the Indexing Options from the control Panels:

Click Modify.  The next screen is what they say may take 10 minutes.

Click the Plus next to the Local Disk C, then click the plus next to the "Documents and Settings"

The next one you have to figure out what your user account is.  It may be the only one listed if you have not set up accounts (besides the All Users and Default one).  Select the account name you are using and click on the plus to open it:

Go down to Local Settings and click on the PLus to open it.

Click on the + by the Application data folder.  Then scroll down to Identities. 

Ok, here is where you have to do one of 2 things.

YOu can uncheck the whole Identities folder (it is hidden and probably not what you want to index in any event), or open it and the look for the long hexadecimal number (if there is more than one, it just means Outlook express has multiple personalities). and uncheck them.  That is .where the Outlook express files are located and what is causing that message.  Deselecting the folder (there is nothing in them you care about since you are not using OE) should stop the message.

Microsoft does not make anything easy.  Good luck
