Even though version 1.09 has come leaps and bounds since the original release version, I am finding that there are still a few niggles which deter from my playing enjoyment. I don't know if these issues have been reported or not (I've got 3 kids and its hard to find the time to feed myself, much less trawl through the forums), so I decided to just start a new thread (why? because I can).
1) The find next idle unit button doesn't go to caravans which haven't yet established a route. I'd be surprised if this hasn't already been reported, but its a big one for me. It used to pick up all caravans, and now none. When you have a lot of cities, this can be a nightmare to manage.
2) I no longer move units to distant locations. This is bacause units don't seem to use the quickest path to get to that location. For instance, I had a woods between my unit and the square I wanted to go to. Instead of going around it, which would have requires much less moves, it went straight through and took twice as long. They also don't always choose to use roads when they should.
3) Building off number 2, if a unit is in a city and you click on a distant square (perhaps a goodie hut), the unit seems to pop out of the city in a random location. They often avoid coming out of the city on the well established road network you have built, but would rather take the scenic hills and forest exit out of the city.
4) It would be nice if you could move through opponent's units (especially caravans), without attacking them.
5) I can't seem to build certain buildings and I have no idea why. It seems I have met all the requirements (nothing is red), but it is greyed out. Also some of my heroes can't purchase certain equipment and I don't know why. I researched armor and for some reason only my sovereign could buy it at the shops.
6) I wish I could cancel movements or maybe change the way it works in the UI somehow. Often in tactical combat I miss clicking on an enemy unit (maybe because I'm inpatient and wish it would move a bit quicker). And instead of attacking that unit, my archers will start moving towards the enemy front (ack!).
7) When I have a mount for my hero, tactical combat gets a bit screwy. If this unit tries to attack, I usually have to click on another unit and back again for each subsequent attack. I also have to manually perform counter-attacks?
Obviously the AI needs improvement, but Frogboy is working on this, so I'll hold my tongue until 1.1.
