This has been mentioned in a few threads before, but I felt it could use it's own thread.
With the earlier patches (say 1.06-1.07), there were a fair number of monsters wandering around the map. I for one really enjoyed hunting them down, which incidentally distracted me from destroying the other Sovereigns for a bit.
It'd be nice if there was a slider/option box where we could adjust monster frequency, as well as simply saying whether or not we want them in the game. A second slider for monster 'toughness' might be nice, and maybe another option for controlling when the monsters 'wane' in the game (i.e. do you want a lot of monsters late game or not?).
Also, if monsters are spotted near one of your towns, it'd be cool if said town commissioned a 'monster slaying' quest to rid the countryside around their towns of the menace. The gildar reward you get from slaying said monsters would be less, but said nearby town would be paying a reward as well. Also, completion of monster slaying quests would be worth prestige to your sovereign.
Towns would not make these quests available by default, but if one of the nearby resource structures was just destroyed, obviously the chance of such a quest would increase. Also, maybe you'd need to drop in to said town to hear about the reward being offered...
This seems very appropriate for Single Player games, maybe not so much for Multiplayer?
