Marriage?

I may take some flaming but here goes...

As in RL there are no "auto saves" or "stepping back in time".  In some games I try and play with out doing that or taking advantage of "auto saves or any saves at all.  Unless of course when I stop playing for the day...the of course I save and reload where I left off.

However when your wife/husband dies in battle or from losing a city you can not re-marry!  WHY?  You should be able to re-marry!

Just something I noticed while playing my last game.

"Keep the sun at your back and a keen blade by your side!"

It's been mentioned before.  I've never lost a spouse, but remarrying should be an option.

I wonder if/when it will be.

Not only should remarrying be an option, but when you start a game you should get a free unit like Janusk that is appropriate to the sex of your Sovereign. Such that is you start as a male you get a female free champion. Not that you have to marry her, but every other kingdom gets a spouse option at the very start so it seems only fair that you have one to access if you choose.

I don't like the free unit idea. Kids inherit some of their parents traits, which means finding a good spouse is supposed to be important. There just needs to be a way to access a lot of heroes at once rather than being forced to deal with the ones wandering around. Like a tavern that has one random, rotating NPC every few turns. Wait for the right match, hire them, boom.

That could be a secondary use of the pub... though that takes a while to get to on the civ tech tree.

I think you should be able to design your spouse and advisor the same way you design your Sov.  I wouldnt give them essence to start with, or access to all the abilities that the Sov has, but a general design would be nice.  And as for looking for a good wife?  Well, there is some truth t that, but most kids end up with something close to all 10s in their stats no matter what and only the female children have the traits of their mother, so they are passed down to daughters who are then married away anyway.

i never marry my daughters off. seems like such a waste..

Then you will not be getting the heirs that decide they like you better than the other guy.

I never marry daughters off.  Almost always marry sons off, as they stay with my faction, and bring a daughter in law with them.  Grand kids have been fine.  With the new global mana pool coming  - I suspect this will be even less of an issue.  Sd should come up with a way for SOVs to have more choices, very early.  Perhaps, allowing a proposal (for marriage) to be made to individulals that are neutral.  Or an offer to a member of another SOVs team 9not the sov, obviously).  marrying someone elses retainer should have both + and - consequences.
