Elemental

searching for tips how to play

Hi

I am now the proud owner of Elemental, War of Magic.

Since Sins of a solar Empire a very interesting game.

Well I tried to play it and I stumble upon some problems.

Like after 150 turns I only have two cities level 3 and 1.

My hero's die very quickly in the beginning of the game. With one I had the pleasure to see him die after one hit from a little spider near the town. A level 1 spider...!!! Yep I am playing the campaign at the moment.

Peassants fall like fly's when in combat...

So I am looking for some tips to play the game. Not cheats. I hate cheats... :o)

Thnx in advance when you help me... Maybe you know a website full of tips?

Greetings....

HOpe they release a patch that fixs combat is all I can say.

I had a level 3 city and somewhat armored troops who were 10 times more expensive then the peasants and they died like

ants in water.

The game is not finished, so Im not sure any tips will be forthcoming.

I know the game is not finished. I saw the different comments in different forums.

But that will not hold me back to try to play it.

It has something what appeals to me. I think a lot of people have that with Elemental.

As described its like Age of wonders. Not like that game but that magical thing that I keep on playing Age of Wonders.

And I mean the first one. In the second one that magical is gone for me.

When I think about it... The same I have with Ceasar II. Another RTS game what I love dearly. Ceasar 3 however is a big disapointment.

So we have to wait for tips untill Elemental is finished. I hope they will do a good job... :)

Greetzzz

ps

Another great game is Lords of the Realm II. Where 3 is again nothing... And offcourse Heroes of might and magic III :)

Research squad-size related technologies and always make sure at least one guy in the stack survives so the group'll regenerate.  Don't take on anything too big to handle.

First strike is immensely important so move your men appropriately.

Design your own troops to use the resources at hand.  Armor is expensive, especially metal armor, unless you have a glut of the right resources.

I smiled when a squad of my axemen took down a dragon.  You can do it, too, so just stay flexible and keep strategizing.

HOMM III was certainly my favorite of the series.

Other games that for me are sticky - meaning I go back and play them again form time to time and they never seem to get old:

Disciples I and II (haven't tried III yet)

Harpoon (in it's various incarnations)

Masters of Magic (all time favorite turn based strategy game)

Age of Wonders (Although I don't like games where in campaign mode you have an incentive to not finish the current scenario - i.e. you've basically beaten the scenario and then wait around a hundred turns finsihing up spell research - this is a design flaw in my opinoin).

The Total War Series

Panzer General II

Hearts of Iron (II and III)

-------------

I'd forgotten about Lords of the Realm II - Anyone know if it is available anywhere these days?

You can get it at gog.com - along with the others in the series. Lots of great old stuff there.
