[1.0.9 Beta] Can't see player cards and loss of interaction cursor (i.e recruiting, attacking, talking) after going into save game menu

I've had this intermittent problem for awhile now though this is my first time reporting it...anybody get this (mis)behavior from time to time?

not yet in 1.09... as i haven't played long enough. usually happens in previous versions after playing for a while...

maybe it's the memory thing? just save and load and with some luck.. nothing else would go wrong.
