spells

there are times when spells are easy to attain and other times not. For example, Pariden's Return took 67 turns to get. Level 11 spells & above appear to take 30+ turns. What is the most effective way to reduce this time? City specialization? More Lore producing buildings?

Err, to increase your arcane research speed, you need more arcane research points.  There's no trick to it.  Each spell has a required number of accumulated arcane research to unlock, and every turn your total research is subtracted from that number.  You increase arcane research with city improvements, world tile improvements like arcane temples, and there is also a sovereign trait that provides a +1 bonus.

Yes it even tells you on the arcane research bar how many you are building per turn. So research and build buildings that help with arcane research or look for Lost temples to build on they supply a lot of arcane research points.

thanks. I was just looking for a way to significantly reduce the #of turns required to attain a spell.

You can always make some OP building for a lvl 5 city which gives you 8000 arcane points per turn.

End of dgracia's quote
Do you have the game speed set to "fast" on the first menu of choices when starting a new game?  Makes a huge difference (though I haven't actually calculated how much or anything...).

Yeah, I tried that. I'm not sure what difference it makes. I only noticed one spell that took 60+ turns. I have a pretty balanced city specialization s most spells are easily attained. The numbers go up as I get around level 11 for spells.
