Have you disabled any extras that the cursor might have? (like the trails and what not)

Sometimes that can cause an issue.

Also check to see if your video drivers are uptodate.

my cursor dosent have any extras and im not exactly sure how to check my video drivers could you tell me how

Well go to the website of the company of the video card that made it (there are only two Nvidia or ATI ). They usually have some software that will check and download the latest for you.

Please post a dxdiag report. You can do so by:

Click Start->Run-> type in dxdiag and click OK.

Once it finishes, click the Save All button, give it a name, then open that file up in Notepad, copy+paste everything to pastebin.com or similar, and post the link here (please do not paste the report directly here as very long texts like that can make the page difficult to read).

You seem to have only posted the tail end of it there--we'll need the upper parts that note your video driver versions, etc.

Card name: RAGE 128 PRO Ultra GL AGP (Microsoft Corporation)

Unfortunately your video card does not meet the game's minimum requirements (it's actually impressive that the game even starts, as that card is three generations older than the minimum). You will need to upgrade or play on a more current machine if you don't want to return it.

is that the only thing i need to upgrade?

if its not can you please tell me so i can get them

New computer dude, a 2ghz is seriously old and busted.

For reference, I was running sins on a dual 3.2Ghz xeon box with a 7800gs.  Sins ran great till late game at which point it chugged.  My motherboard is now defunct, so I'm running on a 3.0Ghz P4, still much much faster than yours.  I have twice the ram, and the ram is twice as fast.

With half again the processing power you've got, and one of the best AGP cards you could possibly put in that box, I still can't run it anywhere near as well.  It's actually been a good thing for testing functionality as quite a few abilities I had set up no longer worked.  That system you've got will be misfiring left and right on event triggers.

A five year old box would be pushing it, that one's an eight.  Save yourself the hassle and spend $800 putting something decent together.  You'll spend more money for lower quality components trying to upgrade that thing as far as it will go, and still have an old and busted POS when you're done.  Shell out for a decent AM3 setup with a mid range video card and you'll have flawless performance on a light budget.

i dont know much about computers so i was unaware on how turrable mine was thanks man guess i gotta start saving

this sucks i wanted to play this

Your processor is fine. That's what I have and I have no issues. Just upgrade the video card. Though make sure it fits the motherboard.

Wow.  Could you play the SOA2 mod and let me know if the more creative abilities don't function properly?  I should have the timing large enough on the conditional systems, but then I didn't figure something that ancient would get adequate performance.

I use Distant Stars which is just as nasty. And also the biggest difference between modern computers and older ones is mostly how many processors not their speed. Considering that Sins is only coded for using one processor at a time, having a more modern computer core is a minor point. To be technical I have a dual processor system that runs at 2 gigahertz. But Sins uses only one and runs just fine.

Eh, huge difference.  Even the first generation dual core processors are much much faster than what he's got, and they were just fourth gen P4 tech.  The Core2 Duo's are vastly superior architecture at the same clock speeds, irrespective of the bandwidth increase, which is massive.

I just looked up his rig.  He's running the hot Willamette or a mid range Northwood, with the max capacity 1gig of the original old and busted DDR with that 400mhz fsb.  He's got a 4X AGP port, gimp AGP performance.

Sorry man, you do indeed need a new system altogether.  Buying an AGP card for that thing will only end in pain, lots of it.  If you know someone with an old geforce 6-7 series or ati equivalent collecting dust on a shelf, see how it goes while you gather funding for a new rig.  I expect it will chug before mid game even on a small map though.

True, forgot to factor those points in.

I retract. Get a new computer.
