Graphic Problem, Gameplay Only

I installed the game yesterday and spent the better part of the evening checking drivers and trying other fixes mentioned, to no avail. The cinematics and menus are fine but once gameplay starts it looks like terrain features become very distorted, stretching across the screen and flashing and morphing at seizure-inducing frequency.

I've seen similar posts, but no solutions. Thanks for the assist.

Some users experiencing this found it to be caused by leftover bits of older drivers--you may try using a driver cleaner to fully remove your current ones, then reinstall 10.9 from safe mode.

I'm having what looks like the same issue.  I'll give it a shot before returning the game to the retailer.

Same problem after graphics driver cleanup and reinstall.  The cloth map seems to work fine but that's no solution.

What video card are you using? Some other users seeing this were using sub-minreq video cards (Radeon x800 series in particular).

kyro, from reading the op's debug.err, it appears he is using a vista home premium 64bit  with an ati 46X0 gpu with the 10.9 drivers by the driver date, just one thought from another thread, could it be the ATI tooltips & catylist control centre, causing the issue?

Quick update. The problem still persists. Swept away any old drivers and reinstalled. I also used ATITools to do a check for artifacting (at least I learned a new techno-term through all this) and it came up with no errors over an extended run. I also started monitoring temp, it stays around 42 and 49 degrees C, which looks to be withing spec. I tried clocking up and down with minimal success, it looked as if there was less artifacting at times, but still non-playable. Cloth map mode has less artifacting, but it does have enough to make it non-playable as well.

As for it maybe being related to the catalyst control center, I don't have the slightest. Catalyst and I don't really get along. Most attempts to adjust my settings through Catalyst when I am running dual monitors involves much screen flashing and cursing, although it seems to work fine with single monitor ... but that is a problem for different tech gurus and is neither here nor there.

Anywho, thanks for the help. If voodoo works I'll let you know, and if a fix is found you y'alls end, I hope you do the same. :)

Thanks again.

chipps567, from what I read in another thread, the radeon x800 is several generations older than the minimum required for elemental, so it might be a good idea( IF possible) to think about upgrading the video card.
