Game will not start

Whenever I try to start the game, it creates a process in my task manager (though not an application) and then just hangs there and does nothing else.  I have tried using the autorun from the CD, the start menu, and the impulse client, and the same thing happens each time.  The game has started normally twice since I bought it.  The first time was right after I installed it, and the second time was right after I reinstalled it, which I did because I had this problem before.  I am running Windows Vista 64 with SP2 on an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 with 4 GB RAM.

Try verifying the application through Impulse:

-Launch Impulse.  Hold down the shift key, and right click on the entry for the application and choose "Verify Installation"
-Impulse will check the integrity of the installed application.  You should be given feedback as to the state of the installed application.
-If errors are found, an update should be made available in Impulse.  This is not an update to a newer version, but simply Impulse using the update mechanism to replace corrupted files.
-Once the update completes, reboot your PC.

Well, I tried that, and the message that came up said that the installation was fine, no errors.  I then tried to run the game, and it did start normally, and play fine without crashes.  Unfortunately, the next time I went to play, the same problem happened again.  I decided to try the installation verification again to see what would happen, and after it completed (and it again said there were no errors), I ran the game and again it worked.  So, as a work-around this seems to allow me to at least play, but seeing as it keeps saying there is no error, is there anything I can do for a more long-term fix?  I must say it is going to get quite frustrating to need to run the installation verification and wait for it every time I decide to play.
