Can anyone explain to me what this Faction Bonus exactly is trying to do and how? Roads are set up faster but how does it work? The "search" function didn't bring much help.

I think it means the roads caravans make are setup faster than usual (ie a couple of turns faster, though I have no idea how many). Personally I think they should make roads an improvement you have to construct because leaving it to the caravans just makes it horrific. I usually end up with roads so crooked and squiggly it looks like the caravan was drunk during its entire trip.
actually, i think the description might be misleading. If you click on the individual traders (the tiny guys) after a road is created, you will see that they level up based on the number of trips they have made. THis is apparently a road level. It increases teh bonus gildar and food you get from trading along roads.
My guess is that road warrior speeds up THIS process, rather than the actual creation of the road, which is determined by the wagon reaching the destination.
You might be right. I noticed it were still 30 turns from trail to path so maybe it is the %al bonuses.
And yes, the roads do look quite terrible 
Um... last I checked Road Warrior had it's bonus ability commented out, aka, it does nothing.
