Thursday was 1.08 and 1.08b (Multiplayer which was only obtained by showing pre releases).

Friday was hotfix. I only know the beta version for that was 1.08b[b].092.

Saturday was hotfix to fix the hotfix which is only for 1.08 and updates to 1.08.037.

 

If you had the beta (multiplayer), you need to follow instructions in https://forums.elementalgame.com/397186 to downgrade to dump multiplayer and update.

To find out your actual current version: Open impulse to your "My games" Select elemental so it's highlighted, and at the bottom where it says the version is 1.08 or 1.08b BETA, mouseover that, and it will show the full version info in tooltip.

1.08.037 is the most up to date non multiplayer version. 1.08b[b].092 is the most up to date beta version.

 

There are no patch notes and no journal entry for this fix that fixes the fix, and it's causing mass confusion all over many posts that discuss things from different patches because no one knows what actual patch they have...

 

Note: Boogiebac (Who released the hotfix for the hotfix) states that a version for the multiplayer beta release can be expected Monday.

Additional note: Remember that you need to delete your mods, and start a new game to see the changes of the changes to the changes in the newest version...

Wow....what a confusing situation.

 

Honestly, short term, the only major issues I have are the bow problem and the mana loss problem. I haven't run into any other game breakers in the latest version.

 

I'm glad Stardock is working hard to get updates out as often as possible, but we are definitely seeing some community confusion as a result of the way this is being done. Not sure why this has been the case...seems like a simple thing to explain, as you have done.

The bow problem was fixed in the fix that fixed the fixes. (It's fixed in 1.08.037). Dunno if the mana issue is fixed, haven't played enough since it went live. (And no change log to know if it was fixed or not...)

Part of the issue is that impulse truncates the version to simply 1.08. The problem is that there has been three different 1.08 versions since Thursday...

I think the easiest way to get latest fix is to follow instructions when you start a game. When there is an update, you get a window informing you of it and, if you click on update, it will start up Impulse from where you can get new version of the game. No real need for confusion, latest patch is always on Impulse and you always get notification of it when you start a game. Only exception ATM is multiplayer beta version but that will soon be changed anyway.

Except that if you had the multiplayer version installed, you did not get that message and you would have to wait till Monday to be able to use bows, catapults and some other abilities.

To fix that you can just grab a mod from the mod forums. Granted you'll have to start a new game to get that to work. The main problem that was fixed in .037 is certain skills were crashing the game.

Agreed,  But I want to know that Advanced Weapon research has been fix before I even attempt to start and play another game...  I really do WANT to enjoy this game but it is becomming hard to do so w/o more thoughtful updates.
