Using female clothes as armor

I'm getting tired of my female soldiers looking like men, so I'm going to use the female clothes (mostly the tops, not the pants/skirts, although I like the highboots) as armor options. They would basically use the stats/costs of the armor already in the game, and only be available for women. I've tested a few out and they work fine. Not the most realistic thing, I know, but I can't stand those manly armors on my female soldiers!
What I want to know is if it's pointless to do this with so many patches coming out. Are the patches and fixes likely to affect this sort of mod any? I'm not modifying the default armor or anything, I'd just hate to go through all this trouble then find that my modded material doesn't work after a patch or something. I'm new to modding and I'm not really sure about this sort of thing. I've also added and changed around some of the available clothes in the sovereign/unit creation screens that were annoying me--might those stop working, too? Should I wait to make this mod?
Anyway, I hope someday an experienced modder will make some feminine looking armor so I can stop using this mod.:grin:
 
PS I was also wondering if it might be possible to have "invisible" helmets for my women. That way, I could keep cool hair for some of my units. Would this sort of thing be possible? Again, not realistic, it's just for the sake of aesthetics.

Yes, I believe both those things to be possible. But the game is changing too fast for anything to last.

Your basic armor item consists of a lot of things, but two things in particular; which slot it counts as being placed on(you can only have one in each slot), and a model which is loaded on top of the unit. You'd want to switch the second of those.

Hmmmm, I guess I'll just see how long it might take me to do most of the armor. I will definitely wait for 1.08 to come out before I start on it then. My sister will love this mod, it gives me motivation to do it. Need some female armor to cater to us women-folk. |-)

You should be good. Unless they change all the art, designations, and names for all the armors then your mods shouldn't be made useless; I doubt they'd do that. The mods I've made in beta still work and haven't been made obsolete yet.

Lastly, I think everyone would appreciate some more variety in female armor and everything you have proposed could add quite a bit more to the game's content. Good luck!

I wasn't really planning on putting it online, but if it seems like enough people want it I might. I was just doing it because it seemed fairly easy to do after I looked around at how some of the other xml files worked.
